obailala:There are investment options that double as luxury items. Strive to acquire more of those. Need I also add that being wealthy is a state of mind. This state of mind is not in sync with feel good toys. |

Juliearth:Everything shouldn't be about making money ma'am. What’s the point of wealth if I can’t take breaks to indulge in my guilty pleasures (e.g. fancy sports cars or travel)? If everything has to "make money" to be justified, then life starts to feel more like a business rather than a human experience. That's literally living in bondage! Wealth should enhance life, not dominate it. There has to be space to live, not just accumulate. A sports car might not be an economic investment, but if it brings me joy, it's an emotional investment which cant be classed a frivolous. |

obailala:I get your point. There is nothing wrong in using a fraction from the proceeds of one's investment to indulge. However, like I said earlier, being wealthy is a state of mind and when you operate from that mindset (no pun intended, please) you would understand that even the luxuries that you can ever possibly seek be spun from an investment. For instance, you can have a luxury car shop and from therein splurge on one from the proceeds of that business. You can be an art collector and from there, auction out some and making double or triple your initial investment. The most common is buying gold and selling years later at over 10 times the original price. 21 karat gold was 32k per gram in 2022. As at today, it is over 160k per gram. If you were able to amass 100g worth of this in 2022 for about 3.2 million, same would be valued at 16 million naira. If you desire a vacation, you could sell a few pieces to fund that. Another candid example is real estate. Some few years ago, a plot of land in the estate I'm resident in retails for less than 500k. Barely 4 years after, the value stands at about 6.5 million. This value may likely triple or quadruple in less than 2 years judging by the current government projects in view. Imagine if an investor has 5 plots of land here. He could sell at a later time for a lump sum of money and use SOME of the proceeds to build an average structure in a low brow area... The list is endless. |

This picture reminds us that appearances can be deceptive. Life often requires us to look beyond the surface and understand the full story. Powerful visual lesson. |

What this teaches me in life is that as far as there's life there's hope. Dented body, knocked engine or faded paint is not the end of that vehicle you see there. You see vanity, dead car etc. but I see 40 million naira lying in waste. What do I mean, I go use my Oga template take explain. I can approach the owner of this wreck and buy this vehicle for less than a million, after all I dey help the owner get rid of his garbage while still paying him, then I go look for correct Toyota 4Y engine or Venza engine put, do major body work, arrange the interior and upholstery, still do electrical work then I go come knack am confirm black car paint, shine am well then I go come arrange my masterpiece of a car for car stand, anybody wey price am go first hear like 55 million. Don't play! Same way Jesus Christ can restore any wreck of soul out there, no matter how bad your situation, as far there's a living soul in that your body, there's hope for you. Goodnight Nairaland! Peace out✌️ |

Righteousness2:The Bible enjoined us to build houses, build vineyards and eat and drink and not forget the Lord for he gave us the power to do so. Forget about vanity and trust the Lord to give you the same. At the time the owner bought the car, there was no good suitable fuel neither good mechanics with the knowledge of the car even today VW is no longer in Nigeria. At the time he probably brought it to Nigeria, Nigerians were taking their BMW out to Germany for routine service. If it was a Toyota, it would have been demolished but.. |
