I suspect you either work in NDLEA or have interest there , why should proceed of crime be spent by the the enforcement agency ?
Okay. I do and I advocate for them. I hope I haven't committed a crime?

Having answered your question, I will like to ask you, why does EFCC spend part of the proceeds of their recovery as an enforcement agency?

Can you now see you are not utilizing all of your brain capacity?

If the funds will help fund the activities of the NDLEA, why not assent to it? No one needs to tell us that the agency is grossly underfunded. They lack vehicles and equipment. Their personnel appear poorly kitted. Almost all their state offices are derelict. They have few or no accommodation. How are they expected to work efficiently?
There's a process they will go through to get all this things

At bolded NDLEA is not the same organisation as NAFDAC that sealed shops in Onitsha. It is strange that people liked this misleading comment.

Are we talking about the workers only or the agency itself? No dey muddle up things na
Both the workers and the company itself. Imagine what NDLEA officials will do to shop owners all in the name of looking for drugs, they will arrest people illegally and call them drug dealers just to extort them. Tinubu did well by declining NDLEA assent act.

What is NDLEA retaining seized drugs proceeds for, all over the world it.ia federal government that seizes such corrupt proceeds.

Tinubu remembers how the proceeds of his narcotics trafficking was handled in the USA after he was caught. He was well guided.

The thing Efcc does today is why NDLEA must never be allowed to keep poo proceeds of criminal activity.
Efcc has made us all see that it's a bad idea to do so.

I understand NDLEA's stance and I understand PBAT's stance too.

Retaining a part of the proceeds would have enabled NDLEA afford the increase of staff allowances and other operational expenditure without depending solely on the National Treasury, just as is obtainable with GOEs like NUPRC, NCC, NIMASA, FIRS and co.

However, Baba said it is unconstitutional as it runs against the provisions of the Constitution.

I think NDLEA just need good lobbyist both at NASS and The Presidency who can tweak that clause into something more acceptable while still achieving same objective at the end.
This thing ia simple, get the senate to amend that section of the constitution. Until that is done, this NDLEA ammendment bill will not fly. It is that simple.

I agree with you absolutely. The major work lies on the Management of NDLEA and how they play their game. Thanks for your input

We have said it times without Number that the EFCC shouldn't be spending part of their recovered funds , it's an illegality that shouldn't even stand , most of the money is looted without extra budgetary and that's what the NDLEA wants too and this is wrong , Every drug or asset seized is and exhibit which after the passing through the law can only be forfeited by law to the Federal Govt of Nigeria nor to the NDLEA , the NDLEA is a govt parastatal who must only spend from approved budgets , extra budgets and appropriation anything outside that is driven by the urge for unaccountability and corruption ..You want to have a fund that cannot be transparent in any way and that's not right , we are still fighting for security vote of governors to be cancelled and you are here trying bro add another problem

Okay, from this viewpoint, I am beginning to understand your argument. And it is indeed noble. But with the bureaucratic bottlenecks associated with budget implementation in Nigeria, you will find more and more agencies clamouring for financial autonomy over time, especially those whose operation can generate enough funds to cover their operational expenses and more.

Support wetin?
It's from the Efcc account and the President directed that he funds be used for the NELFUND program.
Well, Efcc too will soon start crying.

Let me when inform you that there is a Federal agency being set up to manage recovered funds and assets. Once the Establishment Act is passed, Efcc will no longer be in custody of recovered funds and assets. All will be passed to the new agency. It's like an AMCON for all FG agencies.

It's a good development. I totally support. If you don't want NDLEA and other agencies to clamour for retention of recovered assets, then strip all agencies of such privileges. That's fairness and equity.

It's the same reason Police are agitating to return to DBS because military pensioners and intelligence community pensions are all on DBS and not CPS.

That is majorly why the President declined assent. Because it will clash with the proposed agency.

As for the Police, those ones are sabotaging themselves. The top guys aren't looking out for the junior officers and men. They are contented with being houseboys to politicians.

If their salaries are not enough for them to work efficiently, they should resign. It’s not by force to work for government except you have ulterior motives which the NDLEA seems to possess.
A job is not only about salary, there are other accompanying work conditions that should be in place.
You can't just ask people to resign once their salary is not enough for them. Who on earth can say his salary is enough for him?

Good decision by the President to decline assent to the ridiculous bill.

Every agency proceed should be sent the appropriate central account for accountability.
