viqSmallz:I buy old and dilapidated buildings and rebuild them for a living. I have a demolition company I use to dismantle the old structures and it’s not unlawful for private contractors to do so. Therefore, Obi should have settled the case through the courts without dragging the Lagos state government into his land dispute |

NgeneUkwenu:If I win a right of ownership I'm at liberty to do whatever I like with my property. I can demolish and rebuild. I don't need the government to do the demolition. Who is this Peter Obi's brother? Why is Obi acting for him? |

Until we stop our tribalism in this country called Nigeria, things can never work probably. Just look at the comment section and see what those who claim to be educated are doing there. Can we just call evil evil for Christ's sake. Nawa o |

I am indeed happy with the clarification by Lagos State Government, because Oga Peter was almost paintings the wrong narrative like the system was out to get him, which to me sounds like propaganda the way it was dished out, although I understand his emotional tie to his younger brother. My own his be calming down, stop wearing black on black so you can see the light . |

So anybody can just wake up and demolish a building without government approval. For those of you non-yorubas buying land in lagos, I really pity for you. |

Vision101:false! A house owner in Nigeria cannot use the property for whatever they like or demolish it without government consent. why do you think LASG is looking into it? 1. Can an owner use the property for anything? No. Use is limited by local zoning, planning, and development laws. Under the Land Use Act (1978), land is held by the state governor in trust. You only have a right of occupancy, not absolute ownership (Section 1). To use a property for commercial, residential, or other purposes, you must get proper approvals from planning authorities (e.g., building plan, change of use permit). 2. Can an owner demolish their building without government consent? No. Even for demolition, you need approval from your state’s building control agency. Unauthorized demolition can attract sanctions under state urban planning laws. |

HardBishop:We have had southeastern politicians who are decent. Do you remember Dr Alexander Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme? The man who had 7 degrees including degrees in history, architecture, sociology, law, philosophy. He was a millionaire and ran with Shehu Shagari. After Shehu Shagari ws toppled, nothing was found on Alex Ekwueme. The southeasterners are hardworking and entrepreneurial. They have produced some of the best brains in Nigeria. However, Peter Obi is not the best to offer for a national project. Charles Soludo is a presidential material. Alex Otti, not yet, but can be. David Umahi is a good ambassador. DIG Frank Mba has acquitted himself well. Yet, some of them disgraced themselves, like Maurice Iwu, Simon Ekpa, Evan Enwerem, and Peter Obi. |

genkins:Anything i posted is freely available on the internet. the problem is our press and our citizens are generally not very intelligent or resourceful but instead very gullible! The information i revealed was from Peter Obi's own mouth in his channels Tv charade! he is the one who said the company is next foods, he is the one who said "owned for 15 years". the information about the woman when she bought the land and from whom etc is available all over the internet. It was even posted several times on nairaland! but people dont read! The only thing i had to do was check who is listed as the owners of next foods. there are many websites that will give you the owners of any compnay for free. the one i used was https://ng-check.com/ Basic things look like rocket science or insider info because people dont engage their brains! |

I never thought people. Have been paid to attack political opponent until today It's a shame though that young people like this are not objective. And I am so sure you are not residing in the country. Anyways, Godspeed to you. Selah he cant because he bought the property from a fraudster while he was governor. thats why he isnt claiming the property and is going out of his way to deflect ownership saying it is owned by his brother. you own a company, you are a director but you claim the property is owned by your brother...have you ever seen that before that an owner of a property will not come out will his full chest to say the property belongs to me? maybe because the property was "bought" with state funds during the time he was governor. he has said the property belongs to his family, his brother a company...everybody but himself. he also said the property was bought 15 years ago...15 years ago he was governor! The woman who owns the property bought the property directly from the federal government in 2003! The original owner of the land was the federal govt. in line with Obasanjos monetisation programs many federal property in GRA and Ikoyi were sold. if the federal government did not sell it to him who did? if they sold it to the woman in 2003 how can anyone else but the woman whom the Federal govt sold it to sell it to him in 2010? where on Earth does anyone whose hands are clean own a company, is a current director in the company and claim the property owned by that company belongs to someone else? His brother cannot buy a property in his name? I have cars registered in my company name, they are my cars because my company owns the cars, I dont say they are my brother's cars because my brother is also a director. you only do so when you are hiding something! now we know where all the cash they found in the boot of his aide went! Mr Clean! Anambra people, this is where your money went! unfortunately it went into the hands of a fraudster because the land did not belong to the person who "sold" it to him. When you acquire money illegitimately you spend it recklessly without due dilligence. easy come easy go! Some land swindler is somewhere enjoying Amanbra people's money that he should have used to build good roads instaed of the ones that washed away. For those who are wondering why the case was brough against "Unknown persons", it is because several attempts were made by the owner to determine the identity of the person occupying the land. The occupants of the property refused to divulge. if you are the legitimate owner of a property and you have no reason to hide your ownership why would you refuse to state the owners of the property when someone else comes claiming they own the property? i once had a piece of land my late father owned but had been illegally occupied by mechanics who said the owner put them there, when I said this is my father's land and asked who is this supposed owner that put you here, they gladly told me. it turns out they had a superior title to my father's but they gladly told me and thats the point. if you have nothing to hide, the occupants will have no problem stating who owns the land. "Unknown persons" is a perfectly valid legal phenomenon especially when you have trespassers and are obtaining a court order to vacate! ask any lawyers in the house![/quote] |

frank417:How many people observe this in any state except major structures that their demolition will endanger the public? The property in question doesn't look like a major structure. Yes, I understand that every right that I have is subject to the applicable laws. My right is not absolute. My statement was a broad statement. |
