I buy old and dilapidated buildings and rebuild them for a living. I have a demolition company I use to dismantle the old structures and it’s not unlawful for private contractors to do so. Therefore, Obi should have settled the case through the courts without dragging the Lagos state government into his land dispute
Do you just go into the builidng and demolish without recourse to the occupants? Do you act as an unknown person and send workers to demolish them, from the videos even the workers seem not to know who sent them. Is that how you operate? Also are the authorities alerted about the demolishing? Even in your line of business is there no regulation?

Interesting enough that you brought the Landmark's issues here,I'm still in shock that they destroyed the Landmark company, no matter what and how it started, the government should've tried to meet them halfway by putting systems in place to regularise the property instead of demolishing them. Imo
Landmark property was not demolished. They only demolished some of their shanties they had illegally built within 250 m of coastline.

Landmark used propaganda to blackmail the public that their entire properties were demolished. This was not the case. They lied.

emkz:
How was the $30 million spent?

Apparently, the most expensive asset demolished there is the swimming pool.

From the internet, the cost of a swimming pool is as follows:

Acrylic Pool ₦12,000,000 – ₦60,000,000
Concrete Pool ₦3,000,000 – ₦12,000,000
Fiberglass Pool ₦1,500,000 – ₦5,000,000
Vinyl-lined Pool ₦1,500,000 – ₦3,500,000
https://viscorner.com/costs/cost-of-swimming-pool-construction-in-nigeria/

Let's say each gazebo costs ₦500,000. There are about twenty of them there. That works out to about ₦10,000,000. I see three buildings. Let's put them at the cost of ₦20,000,000 each as at 2006. Assuming the swimming pool costs ₦80,000,000 to build + ₦10,000,000 for gazebos and ₦60,000,000 for building, that works out to ₦150,000,000. Using an exchange rate of USD$1 = ₦1,600; that works out to USD$94,000. Okay, let's use the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar as at eighteen years ago, since the CEO of Landmark claimed it was an investment made in 2006. Obviously, prices were way cheaper then. Using an exchange rate of 184 naira to the dollar, that works out to USD$816,000. Experts can argue for inflation and price fluctuations.

Clearly, the costing shows that the investment demolished is between 0.03% to 3.125% of the $30m investment claimed by the Landmark CEO. Of course, many bought it and ran with it. Didn't this same Landmark CEO claim that his $200million investment was in jeopardy?

At this time, the Landmark CEO owes evidence on how what was demolished amounted to $30million.

I raised some salient issues some 8 months ago as follows:

In saner climes, the Landmark CEO would be in jail for allocating government and public property to himself.

false!

A house owner in Nigeria cannot use the property for whatever they like or demolish it without government consent. why do you think LASG is looking into it?

1. Can an owner use the property for anything?
No. Use is limited by local zoning, planning, and development laws. Under the Land Use Act (1978), land is held by the state governor in trust. You only have a right of occupancy, not absolute ownership (Section 1).

To use a property for commercial, residential, or other purposes, you must get proper approvals from planning authorities (e.g., building plan, change of use permit).

2. Can an owner demolish their building without government consent?
No. Even for demolition, you need approval from your state’s building control agency. Unauthorized demolition can attract sanctions under state urban planning laws.
What does this have to do with Peter Obi?

How is it his business?

The government is investigating BECAUSE he mad Claims About Government Involvement that suggested he and his family are being persecuted

Do not misrepresent reality

Government is not investigating primarily because of unlawful demolition

grin grin grin grin

See how everybody dey use Obi shine -

Honestly, Obi should not have come down so low with that outburst, under camera. It seems that he does not know his worth.

Nothing stops him from requesting for an audience with the commissioner for environment or even the state Governor.

You were once a former governor for crying out loud and you went to the demolished site to wine like a man that was evacuated from his shanties in maroko.

As a former state governor and a high level politician, he would be granted audience in most of the offices he enters in Nigeria - be it public or private

Big praise that unknown people can demolish houses in Lagos without authorisation?
Why can't it be so when a competent court has ruled that the property in question belongs to the woman and every attempt to get the squatters failed leading to the woman to get an eviction notice that was ignored which will pace way for the woman getting a court ordered eviction notice.

Is it Lagos state that will evict a tenant who has been given a court ordered quit notice ?

Will you wait for government before you evict a squatter in your property ?

Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, Special Adviser, eGIS & Urban Development, who supervises LASBCA, has confirmed that the agency was not involved in the demolition

@bold, meaning any persons can just pick up truck and start demolition of people's propertyhuh Is that what he is implying or aside from LASBCA there are other agencies that can demolish property??

you are partially right! A demolition is a "structural removal", that is why you need a permit. however removing the roof, non structural walls, windows etc is not a structural removal and therefore not a demolition.

I havent seen the extent of what was done to determine if it was a true "demolition" or not but it looks to me like the structure of the building is still intact. if it was a demolition then it was illegal even if it is her property. if i remove the roof windows and some non structural walls to make my property uninhabitable for squatters, technically i havent demolished the building!

Lol. Primary or secondary, make of it what you will. They're investigating and I believe they will give their answer in due time. We'll see if they leave the reason for the demolition unanswered.

We have had southeastern politicians who are decent. Do you remember Dr Alexander Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme? The man who had 7 degrees including degrees in history, architecture, sociology, law, philosophy. He was a millionaire and ran with Shehu Shagari. After Shehu Shagari ws toppled, nothing was found on Alex Ekwueme.

The southeasterners are hardworking and entrepreneurial. They have produced some of the best brains in Nigeria. However, Peter Obi is not the best to offer for a national project.

Charles Soludo is a presidential material. Alex Otti, not yet, but can be. David Umahi is a good ambassador. DIG Frank Mba has acquitted himself well. Yet, some of them disgraced themselves, like Maurice Iwu, Simon Ekpa, Evan Enwerem, and Peter Obi.
Southeast might have the best brains but Nigeria will never allow anyone from igbos accent ascend on that throne.. we might score highest in electoral votes but no igbo man will smell that seat. I am telling from experience.. see how obi image is being tarnished day by day

So some people come to demolish your house and you will not ask who they are, who sent them or the authorization for the demolition?
For once reason like a human..when they came to demolish the house, why was the house already empty if they had no idea ?
The court clearly ruled in her favor and she has the right to carry out any action

Re: LASG Replies Peter Obi: Clarification On Demolition Of Property by AmuEbule: 3:59pm On Jun 26, 2025
If you’re not involved in the demolition of the property, who then did the demolition? Since the demolition took place in Lagos State, shouldn’t the Lagos State Government investigate this before running to the media to take swipe at PO?

Something is fundamentally wrong with the way we do things in Nigeria these days.

That’s one of many reasons why there was a Country.

Go to Ojodu Akute and ask them about the demolition that took place 9 years ago where beautiful houses were demolished by the land owner who won in court.

Anything i posted is freely available on the internet. the problem is our press and our citizens are generally not very intelligent or resourceful but instead very gullible!

The information i revealed was from Peter Obi's own mouth in his channels Tv charade! he is the one who said the company is next foods, he is the one who said "owned for 15 years". the information about the woman when she bought the land and from whom etc is available all over the internet. It was even posted several times on nairaland! but people dont read!

The only thing i had to do was check who is listed as the owners of next foods. there are many websites that will give you the owners of any compnay for free.

the one i used was

https://ng-check.com/

Basic things look like rocket science or insider info because people dont engage their brains!
May the Universe and its Creator bless you for your analysis. Just because some don't like Mr. President anything against their candidate, all heavens will be let loose
