Devaluation of currency if well managed attracts foreign investment that boosts an economy but due to the insecurity, lack of basic infastructure and lawlessness of our situation, the reverse was the case.
Countries like china, Japan and Indonesia achieved maximum development of their economy with it.
Nobody invests where he is not safe, lacks basic infrastructure like power and not sure he will get justice.

So we’re still out here calling ourselves the Giant of Africa yet we rank 12th poorest globally by GDP per capita?
Please make it make sense.
We have oil, talent, land, and brains but zero accountability, weak institutions, and evil leaders who treat governance like a personal hustle. The economy is growing only on paper, but Nigerians are starving in reality.
If this isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is.
Smh embarassed
That’s a Garbage list.

Go to the “higher ranked” countries like Chad and Guinea Bissau and Sierra Leone, and see how they live there.

You will never believe those are the same countries they rank above Nigeria in anything.

You will rush back to Nigeria immediately.

Those places have nothing.

It's not every negative economic indices that is govt blame/fault...in this case GDP per capital is simply a country's Gross Domestic Product dovides by the total number of Population of the country. Obviously, Nigeria with huge population will rank lower than another country with lesser population of same GDP.....if taken down to individual houshold, two families with same earnings....if one has 2 kids and another 10...which family is better off....

"....Despite being one of Africa’s largest economies by total GDP, Nigeria’s low per capita figure underscores the persistent economic hardship faced by a significant portion of the population.... "

Nigeria is how it is all because of tribalism. Africans can be quite pathetic.

Ironically, nigeria 🇳🇬 is not a poor country,

....it's a rich country whose resources is being MISMANAGED and LOOTED by self serving crackheads/criminals💯💯💯

But when the people are ready, the needful will be done 👌🤌
the people are too tribalistic and foolish so nothing will change. Get used to it

Very damning stats. We have all the funds to build useless airports, flyovers and highways to nowhere but cannot inspire conversion of raw input into popular finished goods.
They just finished stoning shatani in saudi Arabia.

Of course, these are the kinds of statistics that Buhari and Tinubu led-APC government won inglorious trophies for Nigeria. Not when you destroyed SMEs, formulating unfeasible economic policies, entrenching institutional and executive corruption in a govt bent on administrative wastage of national resources against the masses.

Emilokan said his policies are working, impacting lives and yielding impactful results. There you have reality deadbeat mummified zombies. Chronic taxing of suffering citizens to the feather the nest of some corrupt few will surely have counter ripple effects.

This still reaffirm that the economic and social intervention(Betta Edu corruption ) of the useless and impactless govt have no bearing on the socio-economic life of the people
Northern Nigeria is the major reason. Even if government feed everyone daily Nigeria will still be poor since more population are not creative and productive due to religion beliefs.

Are we that poor or it is just a perception of the analyst.

Many trades and transactions never made it to the bank, so those transactions were never measured
GDP is not calculated by the volume of bank activity

Certainly this is not from an intelligent 🧠, although APC is the worst thing that has happened to Nigeria but the ills in the land date back to decades of misrule and Nigerians bad attitude to integrity

Yeah bro. Very true. Sadly the poor people in that country will definitely ensure India remains on that list. Very populated country, more people the population of some European countries put together living below $1 per day

But we are more interested in which state contributed more to VAT
Mind you it's part of it and that needs to be looked into imagine that most of these low VAT generating regions can at least generate 1/4 of what SW has generated. Nigeria won't be this poor. If not for SW Nigeria will be among the top 10 grin
