PDP BoT Rejects Anyanwu's Return, Says NEC Meeting Holds by InfoGuru118(op): 6:12am On Jun 27, 2025
The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has strongly condemned the recent postponement of the party's scheduled June 30 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary, News360 Nigeria reports.

In a statement signed by BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party elders described the actions of the Acting National Chairman as a gross violation of the PDP Constitution, emphasizing that NEC decisions are binding and cannot be reversed by any single individual.

Wabara insisted that NEC, being the party's highest decision-making body after the national convention, had already fixed the 100th NEC meeting date at its last gathering on May 27, 2025, and no one has the authority to countermand that resolution.

He also faulted the attempt to reinstate Anyanwu, noting it contravened a Supreme Court judgment and previous decisions by the party’s National Working Committee, which had directed the Deputy National Secretary to act in that role.

In a twist, a group of deputy national officers of the party issued a joint statement backing the NEC postponement and Anyanwu’s reinstatement, signaling widening cracks within the party leadership.

Meanwhile, the legal tussle over who holds the rightful position of PDP National Secretary remains unresolved.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed September 22 for hearing on the matter, with several applications, objections, and joinder requests already delaying judgment.

While Anyanwu’s lawyer requested a shorter date, other parties argued that the issue had already been settled by the Supreme Court, which ruled that such disputes fall within the exclusive authority of political parties.

Justice Umar, now handling the matter, has directed all parties to respond to pending motions ahead of the September hearing.

Because they know they don't have the capacity. Wike will still buy delegates at the congress and still get vital positions for his camp. That's why they're afraid. Do you think Wike doesn't have some state governors on his side? When it comes to spending money, Wike has the guts to outspend them o

PDP won't have candidates in the office cycle elections ...except their forms have been signed by Anyawu...

More politicians will defect from the PDP... because they won't be able to elect officers in November 2025 when the tenure of Anyawu is expected to lapse.

Who will sign the letter to call for NEC meeting of Novemberhuh

you are right o
INEC will insist that it will only recognise correspondence from Anyawu. they should just let the man finish his term, then remove him

Lol, The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that there is no need for a directive to reinstate Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he had already been functioning in that role.

INEC has no right to make such insistence
Where was INEC when APC NEC instituted a caretaker committee headed by Mai Mala Buni and kept extending his tenure for 2 years in flagrant disobedience of their party institution
The Yakubu man keeps showing that he's pro-APC
Same way he extended primaries election date in 2022 to accommodate APC interests

What’s the point holding a NEC in which the decisions reached won’t be recognized by INEC?

It is a big lie.

INEC has no business with intra-party issues, I have continued to hammer this.

The NEC meeting that removed Oshiomhole had only one signature.... Victor Giadom.

This is not true.

Anambra election was signed by the National Chairman. And Acting National Secretary, Kosheodo, it has been published by INEC. There is also a formal notice to INEC based on the NWC meeting of 29/5/25 that Anyanwu has been replaced. The National Chairman is trying to be clever by half... He personally signed that letter.

Again...in Jegede & PDP v Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa, APC & INEC.

The Supreme Court held that there is no law that makes it compulsory for a National Chairman & National Secretary to sign the forms. The Apex Court held that one of the two can sign and even if it is signed in error, as long as the Primaries held in compliance with INEC rules, there is no punishment according to the law.

WHEN YOU THINK THIS CRISIS IS GONE, IT WILL RESURECT IMMEDIATELY. WHO IS REALLY THE PROBLEM OF PDP? THE BEST OPTION IS THAT OF THE ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN DAMAGUN. ALLOW ANYANWU TO SERVE OUT HIS TERM. THEN HOLD A CONVENTION TO BRING IN NEW EXECUTIVES. WITH THIS NEW STAND BY THE BOT AND SOME MEMBERS OF THE EXCO, EXPECT MORE DEFECTIONS FROM THE PARTY.

I asked you a question a few days ago, and let me repeat it:

What will happen if the PDP leadership waits until the disputed tenure of Samuel Anyanwu expires in December? What will go wrong, seeing as you said the other day, that INEC apparently laid a trap.

I suspect I answered you..... Many things will happen.

INEC laid no trap, PDP had no business going to INEC.
They all played it to seem that way because they conspired to get a favourable outcome to run away.

When you see someone who apparently works for the opposition and is inimical to the progress of the Party, it becomes a problem for the growth of the Party.

There are officials suspended during the pendency of Anyanwu's suit - these are people who want to kill the party, there is a threat to bring them back (they are already sponsoring factions despite been suspended). The main politicking starts now, even before their tenure expires...... INEC calendar for Primaries will be unveiled this year, so effecting a Party change is the best for the Party at this stage.

Afterall, Anyanwu & Co took over the Party before the expiration of the former NWC, spearheaded by the same Voltron who wants Anyanwu to remain there in perpetuity. Again, this question would have made more sense if Anyanwu listened to wise counsel allowing Ihedioha in the Governorship then hold steadily to the National Secretaryship. He cannot have his cake and eat it.

From a political perspective, they can reach an agreement on Anyanwu by placating a and b, but from a legal perspective, Anyanwu should have been kicked out since last year. I understand he has gone to court to stop correspondences of the Party to INEC ....but that's done already.

Bro, you're not getting it. What they really need to sustain the squabbling is exactly what you described as 're-strategising' . The re-strategising is to take over from the mole to sustain the suicidal infighting ' . All, I repeat ALL, of them are moles , placed here and there to ensure PDP never survives. And, it CANNOT.
