Angry Youths Protest In Kwara, Set Emir's Palace, NDLEA Office Ablaze by InfoGuru118(op): 2:51pm On Jun 30, 2025
Youths in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, staged a protest on Monday over the escalating insecurity plaguing their communities.

The demonstrators decried the recurring incidents of kidnapping, killings, and terrorist attacks that have left residents living in fear.

Carrying placards and chanting protest songs, the aggrieved youths marched through the streets, accusing the government of neglecting its responsibility to protect lives and property.

They called for immediate and decisive action to halt the wave of violence that has disrupted normal life in the region.

A video clip from the protest captured scenes of the crowd expressing outrage and demanding justice, urging authorities to restore peace and security to their communities.

The irate youths set fire to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, office in Lafiagi and vandalised the palace of the Emir of Lafiagi, smashing windows and damaging parts of the building.

“We have been crying and dying in silence,” a resident said in the video clip. “People are being kidnapped every week. We don’t sleep with both eyes closed anymore, and nobody, neither the governor, the chairman, nor even the Emir, is doing anything about it.”

The protest, sources said, was triggered by accumulated anger over persistent attacks and lack of effective response from local and state authorities.

“The youths are exhausted, and there has been no concrete action from the government,” a source stated. “The frequency of attacks has increased, which is why the protest erupted today.”

The unrest reportedly escalated as protesters moved toward key government buildings, including security agency offices. According to eyewitnesses, the NDLEA facility was set ablaze during the demonstration.

Lafiagi and neighbouring communities have experienced several abductions in recent weeks, with multiple residents still being held captive.

Families of the victims have reportedly paid substantial ransoms to secure the release of their loved ones.

News360 Nigeria reports that three Fulani women were abducted in the area on Sunday.

This is what inaction and accumulated frustration can cause. Now watch how the Government will be quick to react by arresting most of those who participated in n the protest while not doing anything since the kidnapping went a notch up

"Jonathan’s Excuses to Nigerians Means Failure, He Should Resign" - Tinubu

NATIONAL leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said President Goodluck Jonathan has admitted his alleged inability to continue to preside over the affairs of the nation through his persistent excuses to Nigerians, therefore insisted that the President should resign.

The APC leader who also poured encomium on two-time former governor of old Bendel state, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia who was at the event, asserted that the former Governor is “one leader whose charity is always at home. You believe in Edo state, you believe in your people, not politics of deception and sharing the bounties of corruption. You believe in physical development and morality and that is what we are seeing today in Edo”.

Declaring that the Jonathan’s administration is a failure, Asiwaju stated that “A nation fails because of the leadership failures, if there is a good leader at the top, a nation will not fail. Because the fish start getting rotten from the head. The poverty, insecurity, unemployment which we are witnessing today in this country is because the head has failed.

“Let them stop giving us excuses that Boko Haram is in my government, fish them out. That we have saboteurs in the military, you are admitting failure. No excuse of failure, Mr President we chose you to lead this country, resign if you cannot enough of the excuses” he declared.

Commending Oshiomhole for the infrastructural development, he notated that “many people like you would have fell into the temptation of naira and kobo. But you stood for the progress of Edo state. We share in common the determination to make progress, you had the opportunity to be in labour party, you had that option clearly, but you chose to be with the progressives that you know.

Reaction is natural, a smart government will ensure terrorists and kidnappers are issued death sentence, otherwise the people will get very angry.
