This was the only picture I actually have from my wedding.

Till date I tell people that my cameraman ran away with our wedding pictures and video.

And to top it all he’s my friend.
We once shared rooms together.

I don’t even know if he’s alive or dead.

Before you do wedding or marry in Nigeria, factor these things in:

1. Your cameraman can disappoint you.
Have a friend record everything on your phone or their phone just in case o. You never can tell

2. Not everyone at your wedding came to celebrate you.
Some came to see if you really got married.
About three people gave me empty envelopes and still collected wedding souvenirs.
Except you’re running charity, open some envelopes especially from people you didn’t invite.

3. Your caterers or decorators can mess you up.
Always call them two days before your wedding to remind them.

4. Bride price is more important than white wedding.
If you don’t have money for church wedding but you’ve paid bride price you are fully married.

5. Don’t borrow money to do wedding.
Whatever you spend is non-refundable.
Don’t deceive yourself with “they will spray us money.”
It doesn’t work like that.

6. Court marriage is cheaper and more peaceful.
If wedding budget is stressing you go to the registry and enjoy your home.
You can do white wedding later when you’re financially stable.

7. I don’t regret getting married. I regret feeding people who didn’t care.
Till date someone still dey vex say he no chop food at my wedding.
Mind you he brought nothing.

8. If your white wedding budget can pay 2 years’ rent and fund your business pick rent and business.
Pay bride price and move on.
You can go back to a pastor to bless your vows. It’s done everywhere.

9. As a man if you have something putting food on your table, you can marry.
Don’t wait till you’re a millionaire.

10. Daily income sometimes better than monthly salary.
I’m speaking from experience.

11. As a woman don’t pressure your man to “do this and do that” for wedding.
Wedding is one day.
Marriage is for life.
If he spends everything on one day, both of you will feel it later.
And those people you’re trying to impress they won’t answer you when life hits.

12. Some of us ran into debt after wedding. Don’t be like us.
Do what you can afford. Leave the rest.

Highest they’ll gossip for one week. After that—everybody moves on.

People have short memory.

13. Working together with your wife is very important.
Some of the biggest battles I’ve won we fought them together.
She always tells me:
“Babe, we’ve overcome a lot. This one won’t finish us.”

Work with your spouse.
You’ll always come out stronger.
Na picture we no get. But the love strong
Weddings don’t build homes wisdom does Choose.

The best memories are in our minds. The photos are just reminders of our memories, some of which, 10 years from now, we may even regret having. How many of you have your grandparents album and if they have, how many of you are interested in it? The most important picture is the one in your mind. I am not trying to downplay what the photographer did but don't make too much fuss of it. Maybe it's a sign that you'll do a renewal in 5 years time, no 15 years time so that you can take photos

I thought I was the only one in this mess, if not for my colleagues that snap with phones, I wouldn't have gotten anything to use and remember that event.
