Louiscars:Or i will just go for Kia rio LX 2012 Hatchback..... |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Louiscars: 10:10pm On Jun 18, 2025 |
fashrola:That’s another option, I think that comes with the 1.6l gamma engine, which I feel is still better compared to your former choice. I’ll advise to just keep up with maintenance. Goodluck |

My ogas at the house I greet oh. Please is the 2012or 2013 Venza good for a first time car owner? And is there any prevailing issues that those models have that I should know about. Or can you guys recommend something around the same range that would be better? Definitely tokumbo. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 2:11pm On Jun 19, 2025 |
dessz:good vehicle for a beginner whether the 4cylinder or the 6cylinder, they are good solid vehicles |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(op): 3:57pm On Jun 19, 2025 |
dessz:Yes. Those are solid, decent cars. Can't do much better than a Venza for a first-time owner. |

nurey:Thanks. I appreciate. I observed that he is based in Calabar. Do you, by chance, know anyone in Lagos? |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by dessz(m): 1:23pm On Jun 20, 2025 |
nurey:Thanks my boss, do they have any common issues I should be aware of? |

Confiture:I currently use a cx9 excellent drivetrain tbh. I don't see the edge the Lexus has over it as I have driven and used both but I prefer the cx9.. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Bunsenbun(m): 9:43pm On Jun 23, 2025 |
Jodesky:Ford has better interior (imo) and larger space. The mdx feels too plasticky. When it comes to reliability the Acura edges clearly cause of internal water pump issues the Ford has. If you are maintenance conscious both are good rides |

Gurus in the house, please advice me on choosing mercedes ML 2015 model, Toyota highlander 2015 model or Lexus GX460 2014 which will be upgraded, considering reliability, class and maintenance. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 5:29pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
smartcherry:All your choices are good though in different categories. ML350 is a luxury SUV (though I believe mini considering the Gwagon and GL-class) Highlander is a CUV (luxurious version would be a Lexus RX) The GX is a luxurious SUV (may not be full size considering the bigger bro LX series) Reliability highlander no hanky panky or much of high-end electricals compared to the rest Luxury the GX460 is a master in that class a little better than the ML Maintenance the highlander would be cheaper has an hybrid variant for fuel economy the 3.5L V6 or 2.7L i4 in the ICE is fuel efficient for it's size. Also no luxury attached meaning parts would be priced cheaper across board. Top pick the highlander has consistently been the top of it's class among the competition coming second behind Lexus RX of same year. Practicality the highlander wins here, it has a third row seat though may not have enough leg room as the others, also may not be voluminous in terms of cargo but would get the job done. Also has a AWD that is potent enough to get you through most terrain though not built for offloading compared to the GX. Verdict if you want something more upscale than regular vehicles with a little touch of luxury and comfort the highlander with a touring or XLE trim would be idle enough. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by smartcherry: 8:46pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
nurey:from all indications, you're recommending the highlander. Just that Toyota looks too ordinary for my liking. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 9:10pm On Jun 27, 2025 |
smartcherry:Then buy the RX350 which is a luxurious version of the highlander. If you need the cargo and 3rd row of the Lexus then a 2017 to 19 "RX350 L" will suffice |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by smartcherry: 8:09am On Jun 28, 2025 |
nurey:well, I would have gone for the RX but it's too common in my state and it's usually associated with yahoo boys. Besides I already have the ES 350. I just want something classy and unique. You can also suggest a classy SUV apart from the ones I mentioned but not the RX please. |

Please ohhh, I need recommendations btw a Honda crv 2013/2014 Toyota Rav 4 2010/2011 Accord 13/14 ...first time buyer, mostly concerned about reliability, economy and ease of use in this tinubu economy..... Thanks! |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Louiscars: 12:29pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
Cedarfarms:They are all great vehicles, - in terms of reliability the rav4 takes the lead, that doesn’t mean the other two are bad they are great buys too ( from my personal experience with the Crv their starter kinda fails often, but that isn’t a big issue per say ) - in terms of economy the accord takes the lead. again this all depends on the current condition of the particular vehicle, a car with a bad air fuel sensor would obviously lead to bad gas mileage, so do your due diligence while purchasing - the rav4 for a first timer would be easier to use, it’s a much simple cuv ( but owner has to be good with maintenance cause price of major part can be pricy) Final verdict- they are all nice vehicle and I think for now it’s all depends on your preference |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Louiscars: 12:30pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
smartcherry:Get the Gx then, has the prestige you need and it’s also a nice reliable truck too |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 1:26pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
smartcherry:If funds is not an issue, Lexus TX if not then buy the GX |

Gle 43 2016 or Gle 450 2016? Which is better? |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Beorn: 5:12pm On Jun 30, 2025 |
Guys, between Lexus Rx350 2014/2015 model and Toyota Highlander 2013 model, which one is better, or which one would you recommend for a first timer buyer of car or which is more easy to maintain in this country? |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:55am On Jul 01, 2025 |
Beorn:Same vehicle different body style. Highlander for the 3rd row 7seater and 2.7L i4 engine for fuel economy RX for premium luxury. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Louiscars: 7:40am On Jul 01, 2025 |
Beorn:Maintenance would be almost the same on both vehicle, both vehicles share most part also The Lexus would just have more expensive body part compared to the highlander. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Beorn: 11:40am On Jul 01, 2025 |
nurey: Louiscars:Thanks guys. I think I'll settle for the Highlander when I'm ready. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Louiscars: 12:41pm On Jul 01, 2025 |
Beorn:Sweet, I actually do have one that I have currently for sale. You could also consider that ( of course If it’s still available when you’re ready ) it in my signature also. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Beorn: 1:25pm On Jul 01, 2025 |
Louiscars:When it's time, I'd consider that. |
