The rule of thumb
Avoid any white foods like rice, bread, yam, sugar, salt , cassava fufu etc

Eat more of natural colored foods especially the green ones Eat brown beans , wheat and greed plantains

However there are new technologies used in management of diabetes. There is a digital device you can implant on the surface of the upper arm and it will send real time accurate readings of your blood sugar levels to you smartphone.
These readings could seen continuity. So. yiu are able to know what food spikes your blood sugar and maybe modify the intake.

Twinskenny all foods are good. It is the combination that is the problem. For example, avoid eating only bread and tea. This will spike your sugar level instead eat bread(brown bread) and beans and either cocumber or cabbage. When eating rice, stop the regular rice and meat ( if you do that). Instead divide your plate into four, 1/4 of it should be rice, 1/4 should be beans and 1/2 should be vegetables. This is pretty much how most of your meal will look like. It's just slight adjustment.

One thing you should know that is very important, once you add vegetable (eg cocumber, cabbage, etc) to your diet, even if it is having a high GL, the vegetable will reduce the GL drastically. That is why it is advisable to always add vegetable to all your meal. Also add things like fish and boiled eggs. Try to reduce things that have to do with oil. Eg fried egg, akara, anything fried. I am not a doctor but it happen to be a family disease we have been battling for years that it's almost normal to me. More than 10 of us are doctors in the family ( extended family). I responded to your original message then because something sad happened to one of my family member. She didn't take the regular test serious and lost a leg after being infected by gangerine that led to sepsis. Don't joke with your health when your sugar level is high. Especially when you have any injury. Also be sure your infections (infections that we usually call malaria and typhoid) are cured when you treat it because I think( I'm not sure of this) if your sugar is high the drugs for curing these infections don't work as expected.

They are not sold OTC. It’s by prescription. Almost all pharmacies have them. People Just ask the doctor to send the prescription to the closest one here them. .
