As the agitation for the creation of Anioma State continues to build momentum nationwide, 85 senators in the 10th National Assembly have endorsed the initiative by appending their signatures in support. There are indications that more senators are poised to join this growing movement in the coming weeks. Additionally, traditional rulers from the Southeast have publicly declared their backing, further solidifying the national consensus for the proposed state. The collection of senators’ signatures follows a personal letter addressed to each senator of the 10th National Assembly by Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents the Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate. Senator Nwoko is championing the creation of the new state, advocating for it in the interest of “national development, justice and federal balance.” In a letter dated May 27, 2025, addressed to the Senate President and all distinguished members of the Senate, Nwoko sought their endorsement and support for the creation of Anioma State. This constitutional proposal is encapsulated in Senate Bill 481, which is currently undergoing legislative consideration as part of the ongoing constitutional amendment process. Senator Nwoko urged his colleagues to demonstrate courage, vision, and a commitment to justice, appealing, “Let us be remembered as the Senate that brought balance to Nigeria’s state structure and healed a longstanding national wound.” In the letter, titled “Anioma as Equity State,” Nwoko emphasized that the creation of Anioma State is “not merely about redrawing boundaries or political convenience, it is a matter of equity, fair representation, and justice.” He highlighted that the Southeast currently has five states, while other geopolitical zones have six or seven states. “Anioma State, to be carved out of Delta State, is a just and logical solution to this imbalance,” he asserted, describing Anioma as a region with deep cultural and historical ties to the Southeast. He added, “Its creation will not only bring balance to Nigeria’s geopolitical structure but also promote national unity by addressing a longstanding grievance of the Igbo nation.” The Ndigbo Progressive Traditional Rulers Forum has also fully endorsed the campaign. In a letter dated May 15, 2025, signed by HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu (Oroko Abia), Diawa I of Umudiawu Ancient Kingdom, who is the Chairman of the Forum, and HRM Igwe Sunny Orah, the Secretary, the traditional rulers commended Senator Nwoko for his leadership and pledged their “unwavering support.” They wrote, “Your vision, passion, and courage in championing this noble cause resonate deeply with our mission as traditional rulers to uphold unity and fairness among all Igbo people. We are proud to identify with you in this historic endeavor and formally declare our support for the creation of Anioma State.” They further pledged, “Our Forum is committed to adding our royal voice and influence to this just cause and collaborating with you in every constructive way possible.” https://pointblanknews.com/pbn/news/anioma-state-creation-gains-momentum-as-85-senators-endorse-initiative/ |

We said it that only Anioma state will enjoy widespread Igbo support. Proponents of failed ideas like Orlu state, Aba state, Etiti state etc are enemies of Ndi Igbo. |

I will advise the east to carve out a state from their east. We Deltans will not vote on the referendum to join nnamdi kanu ipob. They should stop jubilating in the east.ned nwoko has not told his deluded followers the truth about the process. Sée their greed. Them no wan divide among themselves, but make another zone wey don make e own fine and peaceful add his own to their own. Na Una get sense pass |

Ezewuzie01:I think so. Carving Anioma state out of Delta state makes more sense than carving another Igbo state out of the Southeast with five states already. Taking Anioma into the Southeast will be more beneficial to the Igbo nation. It is not hidden that having Asaba as the capital of Delta state was never supported by the others in Delta Central and Delta South. When the old Bendel state was partitioned into two states, IBB’s government should have completed the partition into three states because of homogeneity. Primordial politics player its part and here we are today. The fear of domination by the other parts of the SE paled its own part too. Even some people of Delta Central who claim that they are not Igbos are either ignorant of history proving their ancestry or are simply mischievous. The efforts of Senator Ned Nwoko and those who started the agitation long ago should be commended and supported until the process succeeds. |

Creamypie:You will not vote, na for Nairaland e end. You no know how far with the story. Already the process has gone very far and enjoys widespread support from Delta North and the rest of the SE. So if you are from Delta North as a whole, i.e, Ukwuani, Igbanke, Agbor, especially, kuku know say you are an Igbo from the South east. If you do tufiakwa, na for nothing. Those are majorly the people who claim that they are not Igbo, yet they speak Igbo in one form or the other and bear Igbo names. By the way, if you no like, there’s a process called de-naturalization. You can kuku change your name and relocate to Benin or Ijebu Ode. If you like you can relocate to Okerenkoko, Agenebode, Ughelli or Agbaroh. |

ElevationD:Una go cry again for east. Ndi sit at home. Tilimbu no get time to follow the process as 2nd term is around the corner. Secondly, we have told Ned their is his first and last tenure in elective position. He knows.hence this yeye anioma as east. Azsgba of asaba had told Ned it's a purely southern affair, and east has no business whatsoever with anioma.besides after all the paper work by governor, kings.h.o.a, reps, councillors and.l.g chairmen, we, indigenes will vote. All of Una from East looking to expand ipob and access to high sea will be put to perpetual shame |

Creamypie:You see say you no even dey current? Point to the area in the SE where your infamous sit at home still holds. By the way, show us how Delta south has been spared of any form of violence. Have you dealt with cultism and herdsmen menace. You no follow for SE, yet you go from you side cross bridge go but market for Onitsha. All the hospitals for Delta North, na Onitsha dem dey buy drugs, building materials, house materials and all equipments needed. Easier and cheaper to purchase than Lagos. You no kuku know anything about Azagba of Asaba, not to talk of his opinion. When you say “we have told Ned”, only talk about your opinion on Nairaland here. All the mouth wey you get no pass for here. Read the below: https://dailypost.ng/2024/07/15/asagba-in-council-writes-president-tinubu-over-creation-anioma-state/# Tell us if you read am well. Everyone on ground physically in Delta North complies. No be mouth. By the way, if na Ned, if na Okowa, if na Nwaoboshi or LP, all of them are fully in agreement. No be only “we indigenes”, na we foreigners. You wey all your travel end for Nairaland here so. How you wan take vote? You fit reach Akwa Ibom? Na you wan cry so when the Akwa Ibom matter settle. Chai, I will laugh in Agbor language! I will remind you of this discussion when it is through. |

Promise47:You dey play yourself big wayo. Nothing concern Urhobo man, Itsekiri man, Isoko man and Ijaw man with you. Na only state capital hold una together. Your big family dey SE. Una don dey hear an since. The entire Delta Central and Delta South call you Igbo. I no sure say you dey reach village. If you get home, feel free to ask. Go to Warri and speak your language and see if you will not be called an Igbo man. Self delusion is not good oo. |

Nice one Ned Nwoko is a strong man. This movememt will prove that most of the people opposing Ned on creation of Anioma State are not Ika or Delta Igbos. |

Ned Nwoko is the MAN of the decade, a true son of Igbo land, ANIOMA STATE has come to stay. Anioma state will not only reunite the Igbos but will resolve one of the key elements of the cry of maginilization of the south East. I FULLY SUPPORT ANIOMA STATE AS PART OF SOUTH EAST REGION |

If tinubu succeeds in joining forces with Ned Nwoko to create Anioma state as part of the south East, he would have made history as the first civilian president to create a state in Nigeria. Anioma state will be a master stroke for tinubu and that will endear him to the heart of Igbos and guarantee him votes in 2027. |
