Does anyone know if OIS works on Saturday?

[quote author=BruceXavier post=135903534]I think your submission here has helped with some clarity.

Let's imagine a scenario where an applicant was denied a visa, like Canada, UK,New Zealand or Schengen. These countries also share information with the US. Would the applicant have to disclose visa denials of other countries in the DS-160 even when the form does not provide avenue for such? I believe the answer is No

Hello Bruce.

Any applicant who is applying for any kind or type of U.S visa , and who have been denied, banned , or flagged by any of the 5 - EYES ( Australia , New Zealand, UK, U.S.A, and Canada) will have his or her information spring up only by typing his names, passport numbers , finger prints, etc.

***
Even with today's technologies, U.S.A, Canada , and UK have the ability to know your visa history from any country of this world just by inputing your passport number or via finger print.

** In this respects, all your travel or visa histories either you say it or write it inside your ds-160 or not will automatically be revealed to the U.S embassy immediately you are ten-printed and the information will be circulated to all U.S consulate all over the world right there as you are standing.

** The best logic that is good for any visa applicant is to answer ds-160 questions regarding visa or travel history with honesty. You do not have to write about other countries, they knows those one themselves. 👍

Greetings everyone, please what is the validity duration for a filled DS-160? Can I take a 5 month old DS-160 for interview or fill a new one. Thank you

Good afternoon friend. Please can I bring along the passport photograph I used for my visa application? I took the photograph late April but my interview is couple of months away. Thank you

Greetings.
A submitted DS-160 is valid for one year, and your 5 - month old DS-160 is still in tandem with the U.S embassy acceptance policy.

But, from 6 - Month old, a submitted DS-160 will begin to lose respect (sorry for the personification) in the eyes of the U.S. embassy because they believe that some of your circumstances must have changed and might need to be updated.

Hence, you are even expected to go with a recent passport photo that is not more than 6 months when attending your visa interview. 🙄

For my first US visa (2022) I was approved on an 18 month old ds160. I was ignorant of the expiry and no one complained at the interview. These things are not as hard as people think. They are human beings and somethings are permissible. I don’t believe the “losing value/respect” thesis.

Should you update the ds160 when it’s about expire? YES!

At 6 - 11 months, NO!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your response. Since it's only 5 months it should still fall in line with both viewpoints.

I sent an Email, no response. The number directed me to their website. I'll have to go to OIS like you advised. Hopefully there would be someone that can help there as I need my passport for this weekend.
My mom submitted may 20th till date no response but first update was June 10 second one was June 30 and still on application received, I wonder what is going on.

Hello everyone. My interview waiver eligibility will expire by July 24. But I got a drop off date for August 10. Is it possible to change to in person appointment without losing the date? Since it is after my eligibility expires

You can get your passport back till 8 weeks has passed and they’ve not given you feedback. This applies to interview waiver because it is clearly stated on the appointment letter

Your eligibility means you’re allowed to apply for interview waiver till July 24. As far as you have applied and you have printed out your drop off appointment letter which shows August 10, you have nothing to worry about. Just carry your passport to iOS on August 10.

You also have the option of opting for an in person interview but it means you will wait for 1 year plus to get a date like everybody else

@Lekan has given the best possible outcome. In support, you cannot change from IW to physical appearance by yourself without an invitation from the embassy.

If you feel like going to see how the new interior of the U.S embassy buildings now looks like then you will pay another visa fee and opt for in-person appointment. 🖐

Hi guys, I have a question.
So when you try to book a date for an interview, before you select a location, there is this OFC appointment. The moment you choose a location/date, they don't request that you make the OFC appointment.
So, what is that all about? I checked online, and it seems that the OFC is kind of mandatory, so I'm really confused about how to proceed.

P.S. I have an interview date

I don't think you have any business with OFC (Offsite Facilitation Center) appointment except if you are hiding some info. OFC appointment is for submitting biometric and other bodily (photos, finger prints, etc) data or info to the U.S embassy prior to your initial physical visa interview. I think its majorly for H1-B, L1, immigrant visa applicants etc. 👋

The status is now showing refused unlike before that nothing was there. Went to OIS, they said they can't do anything at their end. With this status change now, I'm seriously hoping I can get my passport back by Friday. Because I don't know what else to do.
That is 221g. Welcome to the club. They will email you a link to schedule an interview

Help! I paid for a US visa interview (F1) on June 28, 2025 and I still cannot proceed to select a date. I paid through online transfer from my GTB account to FirstDirect2 (First Bank) but could not get the confirmation receipt because the payment could not be confirmed on the FirstDirect page.

I have created/sent multiple complaint tickets from my profile on AVITS (https://www.usvisaappt.com/), attached proof of transfer from GTB and the error I get when I try to verify the payment using the reference number (Amentum). By the way, the error is, "the reference number does not exist".

In the first response from AVITS, they confirmed that I paid on the 28th. However, the last response from them was that I should send my First Bank payment confirmation receipt. Anyone with similar experience on how to fix this? How I can get that a payment confirmation from First Bank? I plan to visit a First Bank branch tomorrow.

Kindly respond.

Let me also add that I have an upcoming visa appointment (B1) which I paid for in December 2024, and picked a date in January 2025.

Wow... that's good. How long did it take from when she submited?
Amen o...the thing is giving me serious headache. I'm even thinking of going to the embassy (i don't know if I'd be given any attention) as I don't want to take any risk
She submitted May 20th, application received May 21, first case update was June 10th second was June 30 and issued July 2nd.

We should ask those who received a 221(g) how long it took for them to get their passports back. This way, we can better estimate when yours is likely to return.

I don’t think going to the embassy changes anything as they'll not let you in without an appointment, the collection office are the ones to be pressured.

You won’t. Trust me. Just sit back and relax. Had to cancel my own travel plans for may. The person I was meant to travel with has gone and come back. Embassy people are really doing anyhow. Going there would not do anything for you unless you personally know the Us ambassador
