While Nigeria bleeds, the presidency chases titles abroad BY Peter Obi It is alarming that we now live in a country of titles and honours without any passion for the people’s plight. While the Presidency basks in the euphoria of titles, St.Lucia, our people are being killed at home.https://guardian.ng/featured/while-nigeria-bleeds-the-presidency-chases-titles-abroad-by-peter-obi/

Mr Peter Obi published the above on his Twitter handle. Several issues. Reading Peter Obi's diatribe, it reads like he drew inspiration from the December 31st, 1983 coup speech of then Brigadier Sani Abacha: Health services are in shambles as our hospitals are reduced to mere consulting clinics without drugs, water and equipment. Our educational system is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Unemployment figures including the undergraduates have reached embarrassing and unacceptable proportions. In some states, workers are being owed salary arrears of eight to twelve months and in others there are threats of salary cuts.To Peter Obi: 1. Is it true that our schools and hospitals are not functioning? 2. Is it true that Nigeria is not a functioning nation? 3. Peter Obi is no longer playing opposition, but engaged in acts of deliberate misinformation, mischief, gaslighting and intentionally deceiving the public. Tinubu visited Katsina for a security assessment where he addressed troops, commissioned a 24-km road, inaugurated an agricultural mechanization farm center and attended the wedding fatiha of the governor’s daughter. But Peter Obi deliberately left out other aspects of the president's visit and said he went to Katsina only for a social event. 4. Peter Obi's angst against the visit to Saint Lucia demonstrates he lacks an understanding of international trade and building relationships with nations. It would be a complete waste of time talking over his head because his biases prevent him from opening himself to knowledge. Here was a man who did not know what climate change entailed. 5. There are precedents. Peter Obi had lied that President Tinubu was implementing a budget that was not passed by the national assembly. He toed the line of Senator Abdul Ningi who had lied earlier that the 2024 budget Tinubu was running was not passed by the national assembly. Only recently, Peter Obi lied that Lagos State Government demolished property belonging to his brother's company. Only for us to find out that the company referred to was Next International, owned by Peter Obi. What is the end game? Peter Obi is convinced that Tinubu is occupying the position that belongs to him. His followers refer to President Tinubu as "illegal president". Peter Obi always talks about China, Indonesia, Malaysia and strange places. Let any of his followers enter those places and call their leaders illegal and see what would happen. Attention DSS DSS, you are dropping the ball. When three school girls were murdered in a since class in the UK, a lie was promoted that the girls were murdered by an asylum seeker that arrived on a small boat. Turned out the girls were murdered by someone born and raised in the UK. The truth only came out after riots, arson, destruction, and looting of public property by so-called far right extremists. We may have such far-right extremists among the Obidients who brook no opposition, threaten what doesn't align with their warped opinions, and wish death upon the children of those opposed to them. Remember how these extremists burned down Tinubu's TVC and the Nation and were heading to Oriental Hotel until they were told it didn't belong to Tinubu. Peter Obi is attempting to rile up the right-wing extremists to take to the streets. Be cautious of the language he uses: "There is no goverment." "This is not a functioning country." "Our country has become lawless." If you are not aware, they are sowing seeds of anarchy in the minds of the extremists. They need an excuse to start fighting. Contain Peter Obi. He is causing hatred and divisiveness in the political space. Perhaps he is bitter or depressed. Either way, he needs to be cautioned to play opposition responsibly. |

Let us also not forget that after they lost the 2023 elections, some misguided youths protested to Defence Headquarters calling for a military intervention. Recall also that during the last hunger protests, some called for Russian intervention. We must be careful of these people and rein them in. |

A leader like Tinubu deserves the presidency right? A man who cannot prioritize the security and welfare of his people over personal leisure has forfeited his mandate. Nigerians are not pawns to be placated with promises of a better tomorrow while their today is steeped in misery. Tinubu’s absence during this crisis is not a mere misstep; it is a moral and political failure that demands accountability. If Nigeria is too hard for him to govern, as it appears, he should resign. The presidency is not a throne for self-aggrandizement but a call to serve. Nigerians are exhausted by leaders who treat governance as a personal fiefdom, and Tinubu’s actions, fleeing to a Caribbean paradise while his people perish prove he is unfit to steer the nation through its darkest hour. |

I don't know what his tribesmen are waiting for to tell him to stop the global embarrassments. Tinubu have made me realize that old is really not a child's play. The man Tinubu has become so confused, selfish, arrogant, insensitive and directionless. He doesn't even know why he is the President aside wearing his cap and Agbada and perambulating about doing owambe, maybe he is trying to give himself some last treats haven seen the signs that he will be kicked out soon ![]() |

Obi would have been the worst president this country has ever had. That 2023 election loss really saved him. The guy is very empty, with zero emotional intelligence. |

Notice again that Obi doesn't talk about the killings in the South East. Many people don't even know much about Yobe and Kwara state problems. Does Obi care about the killings, no. He thinks it's political gain for him. In his little mind, complaining about South East doesn't remove from APC's votes or add to his. He needs votes from other regions, not that he cares. He very joyful to hear anything negative happens, it's his lifeline. Plus, he can't dare face/challenge the monsters they created. He doesn't have executive powers to shoot suspects at sight as he did when governor. He had no normal solution to problems then and now. |

Talking about frivolities and mediocrity —@officialabat Tinubu abandoned a burning nation of over 200 million people to play poker in St. Lucia, a Caribbean island with fewer people than the smallest local government area in Lagos! At a time when Nigeria is being torn apart by economic hardship, insecurity, and institutional collapse, this shameful trip is nothing but a smokescreen — and now, Nigerians know it. The health-related cover-up is unraveling. ... Omoyele Sowore

Obi should STFU and take several seats It is not the president that will personally do all the work, that is why he has ministers and other government officials therefore it is not a rule that he must be in the country 100% of the time! |

emkz:Talking rubbish as usual. Is any of the issues raised false? A nation where the citizens are dying preventable deaths and the government seems more preoccupied with politics and gallivanting up and down can such a country be referred to as being functional? Why Do you sons of devils reason like this all because of tribal sentiments? Is it because it's not your family members that are dying? Be reasonable for once please. Everything should not be politics especially when it comes to human lives. Tinubu hasn't shown any form of empathy towards Nigerians over their sufferings. He believes he is some sort of know it all emperor. |

It is only a wicked soul that will find a single fault in what obi wrote. In fact, anybody that condemns this is an enemy to this great nation. Tinubu himself after reading this will blame himself for this travel if he still has any conscience left. |
