I mean, why is it called a gas cooker when it doesn't cook gas?

Re: How Is This Thing Called This? by immortalcrown(m):
The word, "gas", is a noun adjunct in the name.

The name "gas cooker" refers to the fuel source used to generate heat for cooking, which is gas (e.g., natural gas, propane, or LPG).

In this context, "gas" doesn't mean the cooker is cooking gas itself, but rather that it's using gas as the energy source to cook food.

Similar Naming Conventions

Other appliances, like "gas stoves" or "gas ovens," follow the same naming pattern, emphasizing the fuel source rather than the object being cooked.

Premium Be Unto You

I think calling it stove, or burner would be better.

You go just dey explain. We all know what it means, but the question is why should it be called 'gas cooker,' when it's not actually cooking gas. Don't you think burner would be better?

I didn't buy it from a company. I bought it from a suicidal, illiterate ex-neighbour

Gas Cooker === Gas Based Cooker

The gas powers the cooking done by the cooker thus it is called gas cooker.
