Today, Peter Obi has criticised President Bola Tinubu for offering limited scholarships to students of Saint Lucian origin to study at Nigerian tertiary institutions. This only underscores why Peter Obi is a trader, not a leader.

It is nevertheless good that Peter Obi has moved on from his lie that President Tinubu has not spent a night in any other state of Nigeria, besides Lagos, though he did not apologise for misleading Nigerians.

Obi says that there are many out-of-school children in Nigeria, and as such, Nigeria should focus on them and not use scarce funds on foreigners.

If Peter Obi knew this, Nigerians should ask him why he did not build a single nursery, primary, secondary school or university in Anambra in his eight years as Governor, even though 77 communities in Anambra do not have schools.

However, regarding the issue Mr. Obi raised, he betrays a lack of understanding. Nigeria has suffered from brain drain over the last decades, especially in healthcare.

Reliable estimates are that we lose medical, IT, and other professionals because Nigerians go to study in different countries.

One of the ways to stem brain drain is to do the reverse, which is brain gain, by which you use scholarships to tempt brainy young people from countries with good primary and secondary education, to come to your country to study at your tertiary institution, especially in areas, such as healthcare, where there is a shortage in your home country.

The rationale behind this is simple. Studies by institutions such as the Pew Research Centre show that an average of one-third of foreign students who study at tertiary institutions will remain in their host countries. In the United States, it is as high as 41%.

Luring these Saint Lucian scholars to Nigeria will expand Nigeria's GDP, academia, and professional space.

But how can Peter Obi know this when he is only a trader with a poor Second Class degree in philosophy?

He is not a leader, so the long-term benefits of the President's foreign policy will be beyond his comprehension.

Mr. Obi is better suited for pedestrian matters, such as illegally grabbing land from vulnerable, innocent women, and fighting for the 'rights' of Onitsha Market fake drug cartels.

Obi is just as clueless as his Obidients, who believe that his daily criticisms of the President is patriotism, but when anyone exposes the lies in his attacks, that person is wicked and hates Obi and Igbos.
