What is the difference between this and what the Sicilian mafia or American mobsters were globally reknowned for, extortion and the threat of violence to underpin it...

And how did Americans specifically react to that. They pressed for the RICO Act of 1970 when the mobsters were getting away with a slap on the wrist by the law.

It is high time Nigerians and lagosians in particular press for the proscription of the NURTW and all it's affiliates under whatever guise and bring RICO like legislation to severely punish anyone or group found involved in extortion, threats and violence to obtain money from transporters.

The public gains absolutely NOTHING from these brigands and urban bandits rather they add to the cost of transportation and make it impossible for the kind of reforms, modernisation and entrepreneural competition that can potentially improve services and drive down fares.

This is 2025 for heavensake. Where else in the world does this kind of shameful, reprehensible way of life occur. And for it to be the postcard of the commercial capital of the country is just unfortunate.

I have traveled and I can say it confidently Agbero in Lagos are like ajebutter to some thugs in park in some states. Lagos agbero are only after yellow bus, go to onitsha or aba and go and see what agbero means.

Agberos in Lagos are not only after buses. NURTW agberos, RTEAN agberos go after any vehicle that carries cargo. If you go get a new car from the ports and they come across you anywhere, you will be chased and asked to pay.

Governor Sanwo-Olu should deal with the agberos causing nuisance in the state.
