It is a very important question, the question of voting. It is one that we ask everytime the voting season comes up...and 2027 is no exception. Infact, we should have been thinking about it since June 2023, after we absorbed the results of the late elections of that year. Nothing wrong with that. Olympic athletes begin prep for the next olympics the day after the closing ceremony of the last olympics. So also in politics. So, who should we vote for. For me, I don't think I like either the ADC in its current form or whatever form it would eventually take, and the APC. They are, as far as I know the same set of corrupt politicans who have ruined this country even more since 1999. Yes, you can pretend your hero did well, but the truth is, Nigeria's problems are based on the fact that we are too dependent on sharing money from sale of resources....when we should be using said resources to make stuff the world needs. (That's why the split between czechs and slovaks was smooth...by 1991, both of them had manufacturing bases that could export. Nigeria does not have that, so any split could lead to war over oil....and no I am not joking or asking you to abandon Biafra...I am just stating my opinion based on what I have seen in the African continent...especially wars in places like Liberia, Sierra Leone and DR Congo among others.). But most of you don't want to vote for a totally new political class to take over...ie consider minor parties. It would be nice if we could vote for people who have never been in power, and clear out the oild political regime. It would even be nicer if we voted for someone who was at the end of the day, a leader commited to industrialization and the development of an economy based on manufactured goods and services. But that's a dream, and dreams don't come to reality, otherwise I would have been a rich man with mansions on the Moon...lol. So, since no one wants my idea...and treats me like Cassandra when I state it (or begins to cry like a baby separated from its favorite milk bottle when it is suggested that they...gasp...vote for someone other than the old elite)...who should we vote for. The answer is the opposition coalition, warts and all. Vote ADC. Whatever form it takes. Vote for the oppositon, vote tinubu out. APC has failed over the years...they had a golden chance to reform the economy in 2015, and to set us on a path to prosperity. Had they done things like remove subsides totally on power and petrol, fought corruption severely, funded vocational and technical education lavishly, improved our tax to gdp ratio...and so forth...from June 1, 2015, it would have probably been a harsh few years, but then we would have seen the benefits eventually. BY now. But we did not, and even some of the good decisions government is taking now...are decisions forced on them by circumstances. Short termisim is the order of the day, and we need a new broom in the house. And new ideas. Maybe we would now take the painful route to long term economics. Maybe not. But as someone who has never voted APC or even PDP...let's vote in the oppositon. If ADC does not perform by 2031, then we can vote for APC or whoever is the opposition elite by then. And if they mess up...we vote them out in 2035, and so on and so forth. Maybe the elite get tired of being kicked out every four years, and then sit up, get in experts, get serious help, get serious on fighting corruption and so forth, and then we can have some good government eventually. Maybe not...defection is an option. See the things that have happened since the first defection late in 1999. It has gotten worse. At the end, it must be Nigeria first, and not our stomach first. Thank you and good morning. P.S The way forward for Nigeria can be found in the two articles 1. Pass the books, hold the oil...thomas friedman 2. More more Field Ruwe...for Zambia, applies to Nigeria too! If you can find this book below Crude nation: How oil riches ruined Venezuela by R.Gallegos...it shows how being dependent on oil is not the way forward. Or we can blame the west, hausas, zionists, islam, christians, atheists, etc etc for Nigeria's issues....as we always do here. |

Nigeria will be in far more terrible state if Tinubu is returned for a second term . A man who prioritizes cows over human being is not qualified to be president. See his disgraceful statement in benue state massacre of over 200 people , he didn't even bother about the pains that the benue people felt instead he told the governor to go and settle with his political rivals . What a president .. As for me , I will vote for ADC a billion times over Tinubu and his blood thirsty APC. |

President Tinubu reelection has been solidified with the projects, reforms and the policies. The defections of the politicians from different regions is a plus The coalition can collude and oppose together, it would be as usual futile efforts because Nigerians are yet to know which new story they would come up with |

You vote out the non-performing party, that's how it's done in civilized countries. You keep doing it till elected officials start becoming accountable to the people who elected them. No excuses for any President who is very active in fighting and bullying his opponents but weak in handling economy and security. No excuses. |

helinues:Which projects ? Oh let me guess, The massacre of over 200 people in benue state without a single arrest till date? Or maybe the high poverty rate project and economic hardship that the tinubu administration has brought upon Nigerians . Tinubu is not marketable anywhere . He's a failure far worse than buhari . I prefer buhari government to tinubu any day anytime . |

LagosOrigin:Abuja, FCT is not part of Nigeria. Custom, Immigration, Aviation sector are not part of the sectors under this government. Hahahaha, we have narrations to sell which people would buy. We are just yet to see which new narration the so called coalition would tell Nigerians that they would buy. Their leaders should first tell us the extra ordinary things they had done when they had the capacity to lead |

You piece is good but it's your opinion. I guess it was Jesus and his disciples that are in the ADC right? And the fact that you want to test run my future and that of unborn generations with your voting style is where your opinion is your opinion. Do you know how old you will be year in year out while test running your votes? Don't forget that power depreciates As for me I am tired of people playing gimmicks with my future. |
| Re: How We The Nigerian Masses Should Vote In 2027 by nairalanda1(op): 9:27am On Jul 03, 2025 |
Adeoye11:So building on your last line, why not follow my private solution of 'voting in completely new people' instead of the same old politicans in both APC and ADC and even adding PDP and lp? The same people who are playing gimmicks with your future are also in APC, yet you want to vote them in again. Anyway, that's the response I always get, and why we never have good leaders. The thing is, most of you...yes including you...don't want change, so my solution is in the language you understand. |
