Peter Obi gifted Haiti Anambra’s money while doctors were on 13-month strike: Presidency

Bayo Onanuga, presidential spokesperson, has berated former Governor Peter Obi as a hypocrite for criticising President Bola Tinubu’s offer of scholarships to St Lucia students.

Shortly after Mr Obi lashed out at Mr Tinubu for offering scholarships to St Lucia students while schools are on strike in the Federal Capital Territory and about 20 million out-of-school children roam the streets in Nigeria, an X user, @Riddwane, posted a photo of Mr Obi donating funds to the Haitian government in 2010.

“Peter Obi, this was you in Haiti in 2010, where you donated Anambra money to rebuild a country whose people never knew Obi of Onitsha.

“You took this action during the 13-month doctors’ strike that paralysed healthcare in your state. Have you ever practised what you preach?” @Riddwane posted.

Amplifying @Riddwanne’s message, Mr Onanuga reposted it, saying, “Bitter Peter is a hypocrite of the worst order.”

Mr Onanuga’s retort comes about 48 hours after Mr Obi took a swipe at Mr Tinubu for abandoning Nigerian out-of-school children to offer scholarships to St Lucia students.

Even though the same and reasonable Nigerians will concur that this so called coalition is practically dead on arrival. Just that the highlight of it all is the PO joining up with them. I put it to every obidient who cares to listen and truly observe, that this move made by PO has now "stained his white".

This is a man who at the last election got over 6m votes, notably without any political support from ANY of the political relics that came together to form this coalition. If he could do that on his own then he should never need to partake in this sham of a project, unless he's the one being touted for President. Anything less, and this man would have shot himself in the foot.

Be that as it may, this also opens the door for PDP to still regroup and try to field a much better and neutral candidates and just maybe, they can still stand a chance too. Because at the end of the day, there are always electorates who are programmed to always vote for a particular party.

But this so called coalition is a complete waste of time, especially Nigerians' time, purely because these set of folks championing the cause are some of the worst leaders to ever rule the country. Bunch of looters and self centered terrorist sponsors. PO needs to get out of that rubbish real fast before he ends up gnashing his teeth. Simple.

There was a massive earthquake in Haiti, over two hundred thousand people were killed. Hundreds of thousands rendered homeless.

It was one of the worst natural disasters in human memory, and made worse by the fact that Haiti is a poor country.

There was a world wide appeal to help Haiti. Peter Obi donated money to help them, he even travelled there to see what he could do

These were people in life or death situation. To compare it with giving Scholership is shameful
