Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by success1smyn(op): 7:23pm On Jul 03, 2025
Nigeria’s political landscape is never short of drama, but let’s stop the comedy—comparing the newly "adopted" ADC by a group of political journeymen to the monumental formation of the APC is like comparing a WhatsApp group to a merger of corporations.

Let’s dissect it with FACTS, not fanfare:

1. APC Was Formed—ADC Was Adopted. The APC was a carefully structured party, not a rented vehicle for disgruntled elements. It wasn’t adopted overnight; it was built. It emerged from the vision of merging parties, not patching up political orphans.

2. Real Parties, Not Political Orphans. The APC was the result of powerful political parties—ACN, CPC, ANPP, and a major faction of APGA—surrendering their entire structures. These were organized national machines, not defectors or leftovers. Today’s ADC “coalition” is a collection of political ‘freelancers’ looking for a platform, not building one.

3. APC Was a Force, Not a Protest Movement. By 2013, even before their merger was completed, the handwriting was already on the wall: Jonathan was vulnerable. The APC tapped into the public anger against the PDP government with a formidable structure. Today’s Tinubu-led APC, despite its controversies, is gaining ground with elected opposition members crossing over daily. That was never the case with Jonathan’s PDP.

4. PDP Was Cracking Then, APC Is Solid Now. In 2013, PDP was like a glass already cracking under pressure. Remember the New PDP (nPDP)? It gave the APC tailwind. In contrast, the current APC is more united than the PDP of today, and ironically, it’s PDP that now suffers from internal bleeding.

5. ADC Was Not Formed By a Merger. What serious party has collapsed its structure into ADC? Zero. Nada. Nil. When APC was formed, it wasn’t individuals jumping ship; it was parties giving up logos, flags, manifestos, and machinery. ADC today is just a borrowed bus stop for those tired of being lonely.

Conclusion: If you're among those pushing the narrative that the ADC "coalition" is the next APC, please stop. History and structure don’t lie. One was a calculated merger of power blocs; the other is a rushed adoption by people with nowhere else to go.

Let’s call it what it is—not a revolution, but a reunion of former housemates looking for a new season.

The coalition is nothing serious but coming together of political wanderers who are only after their own interests. The only thing that can help the coalition is if obi is made the standard bearer of the party which I doubt seriously because it is boldly written that the coalition is formed to serve Atiku's interest.

They formed APC with parties. You're forming ADC with podcasts and press conferences. Make it make sense. 😂

what tinubu has done or not done is the reason for the coalition.if you are downplaying it you must first explain why Nigerians shouldn't take the coalition serious.
One man is against the elite class
One man is against the middle class
One man is against the poor
Funny enough you guys pretend as if you are not on the same page with the thinking of every Nigerian out there.

Read again brother, this thread is not about why, it's for people comparing APC's formation and ADC's coalition.

Get that right.

OP, you go explain and Analyze tire....

This Adopted party will defeat the Formed party in this manner

Atiku Abubakar will be the flag bearer of the ADC and Peter Obi will be his running mate

That combo will kick out the APC from power
Re: Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by helinues: 9:37am On Jul 04, 2025
That's obvious and glaring.

The then opposition coalition started from afresh, registered a new political party and organized themselves.

This current coalition are not even organized . The party they are adopting already have factional group. They could be dealing with the wrong faction of ADC

Moderators at this point you might as well post pictures of your APC membership card. I thought this forum was supposed to be neutral but you keep pumping posts like these to the frontpage and these aren't even credible think pieces, just mindless ramblings from people with little or no influence or understanding of the political landscape in Nigeria

Re: Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by Saint99: 9:41am On Jul 04, 2025
APC registration was made possible because there was a president in the person of GEJ who was not power drunk, who refrained from interfering with INEC processes. Can we say the same today? The individuals who adopted ADC feared that IÑEC may not do the needful.

The ADC must not be a copy cat to the APC . Point is they are here to remove a bad leadership. A leadership that has bestowed suffering , poverty, insecurity , division , lawlessness nepotism etc on Nigerians...
You ppl still make this stupid mistakes about structures n politicians despite how Peter obi, the PSEUNAMI made a caricature of that...
2027 is about Nigerians just the way it was in 2015 and Nigerians will massively vote out
This cluelessness of a people called APC.....
Good thing about this force is the fact that they are ready, willing and able to fight the APC political rigging machine tooth for tooth
With this it's clear n safe to say that Tinubu is a
ONE TIME PRESIDENT.....

The noise is loud. The outrage is clear.
But the big questions remain:

– What truly unites them beyond shared enemies?
– What’s the real agenda—change or control?
– Is this a movement for reform or a calculated bid to reclaim lost power?

Because shouting “enough is enough” is easy.
Vision, values, and action? That’s the hard part.
Re: Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by seunmsg(m): 9:45am On Jul 04, 2025
APC had 10 governors on day one. Five disgruntled PDP governors later joined to take the number to 15. As at today, not a single incumbent governor has joined ADC. It’s a coalition of failure from the onset.
Re: Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by Usmanovic95(m): 9:45am On Jul 04, 2025
One thing is obviously, Tinubu has given Nigerians a thousand reasons to pitch tent with ADC. Nigerians can't afford to reward Tinubu with another 4yrs as president. Oga all these reasons you listed are just your fickle opinion, they are not fact.
Re: Why ADC 2025 Can’t Be Compared To APC 2013 by Kobolander: 9:45am On Jul 04, 2025
The coming of ADC into Nigeria’s political landscape is a WELCOME idea, if not for any other thing but the provision of an alternative for the political class and but extension a way of giving the present administration the need to be her toes. Opposition is needed not to only to win election but to at least provide CHOICES.

It’s unrealistic to expect every Nigerian—or even most—to share your exact views. In reality, everyone prioritizes their own interests, which often differ or even conflict with yours, since interests are inherently personal and group-based.
