A Nigerian businessman has caught his apprentice stealing money to buy four phones worth 1.2 million for his girlfriend, who also works as the cashier in his shop.

Yes 1 million for seven years is wrong for now, but seven years agreement was before Naira devaluation... maybe the young man too was trying to help himself, but it would have been better if he had invested the money.

it's not all about the money but the knowledge acquired, this boy in question is garbage in, garbage out.

Let,s break it down. one million may sound small for seven years service, but it is not.
The boss is responsible for feeding, housing and showing the boy the trick of the trade.
He gets valuable connections within this period.
if he is industruos and well behave, he will start making money even as an apprentice because he gets to remit the price his boss ask him to sell his goods, anything on top of the price belongs to him.
at the end of his servitude, his boss will rent a shop for him, equip it and give him the agreed amount as severance.
also he knows where to collect goods and payback after selling because of the contacts his boss have exposed him to.
So tell me, do you still think its slavery? how many universities give her graduands money to start life, give them start ups or rent and equip a place for them after years of studies.

he should report to police, that the right thing. Because ihs boss, it means he planned scamming him. Am into trading since 2012, to find honest people really hard, just sacked some recent, they designed there receipt already. Got to know Because the lady is cheating and they started fighting. I sacked the lady, then she sent all the evidence. We are in court now. Had to review cctv for video evidence.

Why he is saying you won't understand is that the boy didn't slave for that 7 years as you term it.
He learnt a trade from his boss which some people pay money to learn.
To learn a craft now, you pay your oga, buy drink and after maybe 2 years of learning you just leave with hopes that your family will set you up.
But for the igbo system of apprenticeship, your boss trains you for free, clothes you, accommodates you for that number of years, them settle you with some money, maybe a good shop, and most definitely countless connections.

Them no do agreement before this kain apprenticeship?
