Tiktoker, Tsulange Sentenced To One-Year Imprisonment For Bathing On Kano Street by cityboylagos(op): 6:24am On Jul 04, 2025
In a controversial ruling that has sparked public reactions, a popular TikToker, Umar Hashim, widely known as Tsulange, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by a Magistrate Court sitting in Gyadi Gyadi, Kano State. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The court, presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, found Tsulange guilty of indecent public conduct after he appeared in a viral comedy skit where he was seen bathing in the middle of a public road, wearing a woman’s undergarment. The act, which was filmed and posted online, quickly gained attention but also drew the ire of authorities and conservative members of the public.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Hassan ruled that the content violated public decency and morality, sentencing the content creator to one year in jail, with an option of a fine of ₦80,000.

In addition to the sentence, the court also ordered Tsulange to pay ₦20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board, which had initiated the legal proceedings, to cover costs associated with the investigation and prosecution.

The TikToker was initially arrested in June 2025 following the release of the skit. His case has since stirred debate across social media, with some defending his actions as harmless comedy, while others have hailed the judgment as a necessary measure to curb rising moral decadence in digital content.

The incident reflects the growing clash between modern internet culture and conservative societal norms, especially in northern Nigeria where strict censorship laws are enforced.

I think you should be more concerned about a senator in your region, who always defend and stand as a surety for a known terrorist whose mission is to displaced everyone from your region and turn them to refugees.

In as much as north is a backward region, that doesn't mean the skit maker should act fuulishly. This should serves as deterrent to others that constitutes public nuisance all in the name of content making...Let's be truthful, most of these skits makers are dumb. How does his action (bathing in the middle of the road) affects people's life positively
Re: Tiktoker, Tsulange Sentenced To One-Year Imprisonment For Bathing On Kano Street by shadrach77: 6:58am On Jul 04, 2025
There should be some form of punishment for stupid actions such as this. Social media has given rise to a lot of insane people. Why will you take your bath in public? To what end? To achieve what? For clicks and likes? Now the people you are trying to impress will quickly move on to another person when you are no longer there

Well I will say that social media is now becoming a place for shared stupidity and immorality. However the sentence is too serious for his offence. How about community service.

Why 1 year? When they can just make it more than 5 years, they had stopped thinking productive and only just want to engage in contents making, bunch of clowns and they will be using their useless platforms to insult the government when they themselves are useless to themselves and their community

He is lucky to have such a light punishment after the nonsense he did. Bathing in the middle of the road in broad daylight wearing a women's undergarment is obscenely insensitive content. This is why they need to be guided.
Re: Tiktoker, Tsulange Sentenced To One-Year Imprisonment For Bathing On Kano Street by njokuuche77(m): 7:37am On Jul 04, 2025
