I weigh mine before and after refill to ensure I am getting what I am paying for.
For this kind of cylinder you will need a glass or transparent material that can withstand several hundreds of psi of pressure.

Imagine being able to see exactly how much gas is left in your cylinder — no more guesswork, no more cheating during refills! Someone suggested making gas cylinders like this transparent, for accountability and convenience.

But let’s be honest… just looking at it alone, e be like say e wan blow! 😂😂

It’s giving “glass bomb” vibes. Would you feel safer or more terrified using this kind of cylinder?

“Make una talk true, you fit use this kind cylinder for house? 😂

Let’s debate:
💬 Is this a smart innovation or a disaster waiting to happen?
it cant work oo

do your research and find out why cooking gas are captured in metal cylinders and not transparent containers

You cant put cooking gas in transparent container because it poses serious safety and hazard risks—transparent materials generally lack the strength to withstand high pressure, making them prone to cracking or bursting. Additionally, they offer less protection from heat and UV rays, which can destabilize the gas and increase explosion risks.

Lol, gas is already one of the three states you mentioned. Gas is gas.

Good idea! At least I will know when to cook beans. Unlike those 6kg own

What's going on here.... Y'all wanna see cooking gas?? Is it even visible to begin with??

that shit is like the air u breathe...colorless and odorless..

Sigh!! Chemistry don suffer..

Is this even possible? Can a plastic material with a transparent body be safe enough to use?
Re: What Do You Think About These Transparent Gas Cylinders? by CodeTemplarr: 1:50pm On Jul 04, 2025
Instead, buy a weight scale and check its weight before and after refilling the cylinder. They sell gas by weight.

Na u dey talk wetin u no sabi. What about the gas inside lighter, those ones has been liquefied under pressure and we can see them.

A glass cylinder can be used to hold pressure, but it is generally not recommended due to the inherent fragility of glass. Glass is susceptible to cracking and shattering under pressure, especially sudden changes in pressure or high pressures. Therefore, other materials like steel or specialized composites are typically used for applications requiring pressure containment.

It's Scientific!
Some of these people talking are graduates, some with masters degrees, some are complaining that they have gone for many interviews and they cant find jobs.... You see them saying they studied one science course or the other and they still say a transparent cylinder is a welcome idea.....

One begins to wonder if its the politicians that are dvmb of the citizens

What you need is a pressure guage not a transparent cylinder.
Basic science should tell you that this is not safe but Nigerians have certificates and degrees but no education.
Below is a picture of what a pressure guage looks like, its less than 9k on Jumia.

The things you see Nigerians talk about makes you wonder if we are bachwards because of bad politicians or we are backward because we have a huge percentage of our citizens who are just dvmb.
I've used one before but it wasn't accurate. Gas finished but it was still reading nonsense.
Re: What Do You Think About These Transparent Gas Cylinders? by Fajimarketplace: 1:57pm On Jul 04, 2025
Gaseous states won't maintain a level, like liquids. It will occupy all available space.

Disaster waiting to happen.

Go with standards. Don't use that for safety reasons

Technological advancements in material science means anything is possible in future.
Did we ever think for one day in the past that we will be cooking on glass like is obtainable today?

It's already available but expensive

Not the transparent but you can still see through a bit 'fiber glass cylinder'
Even that one self get as he be… talk less of this one wey be like (Lords Gin) bottle, depends on the material use anyway but don’t try it if have kids and reckless wife or girlfriend

Maybe it wasn't fixed properly or the pressure guage was bad.
But this is what is required.
The enginneers who after many of research decided that LPG should be put in a metalic Cylinder are not content creators, as a matter of fact even the shape of the cylinder was brought about after years of research.
Re: What Do You Think About These Transparent Gas Cylinders? by nightsaint(m): 2:02pm On Jul 04, 2025
It is stronger and harder than the metal ones. Fibre glass could be one of the toughest materials you can think of. If I could afford this, I will buy it.

Let's have the meter that reads every kg of gas that enters the cylinder and that which show the level of gas

Yeah it is good to see death anytime you step into the kitchen. Old school may prefer steel as it is unlikely to suffer catastrophic cylinder failure. Can't trust plastic.

You can talk about something else, but what makes a cooking gas flammable is the content.
Are you thinking the composition of water is going to change from H2O one day? You are joking?

Your cooking gas is Liguidified Petroleum Gas, unless you are planning to change it to something else, but as long as it is LPG it remains in a metalic cylinder. Its basic science get a book.

There is a reason why CNG is out in a bullet proof cylinder, you are definitely not smarter than the engineers.
Most CNG cars going up in flames belong to ignorant people like you who feel you know better that we engineers you go for cheap cylinders for your CNG instead of bullet proof

They maybe stronger but when they fail it is often spectacular and without warning just like composite aircraft parts over aluminum. And little is known of their lifespan or pressure cycles - fill/refill.

You are technically right...but .those small lighter na pure butane with lower vapor pressure it's easily liquified into small transparent containers....

I am an Engineer and I am telling you with full assurance that with current advancements in material science nothing is impossible going into the future take it or leave it.

interesting idea but don't you think that should be outsourced to the correct regulatory bodies? What would happen if we made everything transparent so the end users need to double check ? Atm, milk tins, fruit juice
