Trippledots:it's really a challenge but I still feel it's cheaper to build than to buy branded batteries, though it may also depnds on where n how u source your materials. Let's use 10Kwh battery as a case study. With your less than 1.5m u can build a very good quality 10kWh lithium pack, where can u get a branded battery for even 1.8m? The price of my good quality capacity tested 3.2Ah LG cells hovers around 1k downward depending on the quantity. So let's do the maths. U need just around 910pcs of cells, thats if u take the cells capacity as 3Ah to achieve 10Kwh which amounts to 910k, don't compromise on good quality bms, use a very good quality smart bms like JK, which price ranges between 150k to 200k depending on the capacity sha, some even come with upto 2A active balancers. Active balancer is a very important component in battery building i wonder why some battery builders ignore balancers, 5A active balancer is around 25k or even less depending on where u get them. The other consumables like nickel strips, voltage display meter, terminals and good casing may not even cost upto 100k. Totaling everything results to something less than 1.3m where u wan see good branded 10kWh lithium battery for that kain amount? |

9ijaprince:80A is not small, it's just 4kWh o bro. I don't feel 80A is small for a 4Kwh battery, u wan use AC with 4Kwh? |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by dollarnaira(op): 7:09am On Jul 04, 2025 |
9ijaprince:It is difficult to pull 80a singly on a 12v system. The problem is, most don't know the use of a bms. |

barezy:i don't have the picture of the inside box and it's already in the client's house. It's an industrial distribution board box, it comes in many sizes depending on what u want to build. Feel free to chat me for any |

AndroBlaze:So I can use it for 100ah 12v lifepo4 without any issues and it won’t trickle charge thinking my battery is lead? |

tetralogyfallot:What about the brainwork? It takes precision and perfect know-how to solder 910 pieces of cylindric cells together without something going wrong. |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by tetralogyfallot(m): 10:18am On Jul 04, 2025 |
Elizkid:without precision, smartness, passion, brainwork, adept knowledge and carefully inculcating good SAFETY MEASURES when building a battery it can never be achieved. Note: I highlighted safety measure, it's super important when building any battery cos lithium ion does not forgive any bad connection or any bad battery building practice. Usage of good quality BMS can never be over emphasised. I either use good quality materials when building a battery or not even build at all. I recently worked on some tesla battery modules, the way the cells were super protected was astonishing. |

Can you please give give a ballpark estimate for this battery . Also can normal transformer-based inverter charge them? tetralogyfallot: |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by Obnoxious2001(m): 10:34am On Jul 04, 2025 |
Elizkid:Just buy a good BMS it will create an open circuit when the charger is trying to over charge the battery. Besides I have only tested it in suoer 10A charger |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by AndroBlaze: 11:05am On Jul 04, 2025 |
Elizkid:If your BMS can't handle trickle charge, then it's not a BMS. Also in practical terms, with lifepo you don't need to leave these kind of chargers connected to your batteries infinitely, it charges the battery fast so you just clip on and clip off. I have a particular 100ah lifepo that has ONLY been connected to a smart charger and a old solar controller that uses only lead acid settings for almost a year, no problems at all. |

Trippledots:To me, I no longer see need building the 18650 packs anymore, simply because the cost of building is almost equivalent to getting a new factory made LFP pack, and also the stress involved in building it. |

Obnoxious2001:is it possible to reconstruct the voltage to 12.6v with altering the amps? |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by dollarnaira(op): 3:18pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
officialfestus:This will result to less demand of 18650. But the energy density of lithium ion is huge. Almost all my builds were freely made and research purposes. |

dollarnaira:there is, my inverter Samsung microwave is 700w. |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by dollarnaira(op): 3:54pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
fuckboys:Was is it this that pulled the above 93amp? What is the power surge pls? |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by fuckboys: 4:08pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
dollarnaira:no, max power is 700w. I had other appliances on while powering the microwave. Sometimes I pull 100plus amps. I'm already making budgets for a 48v system, 12v can't handle my power needs anymore. |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by saint2ace(m): 6:03pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
officialfestus:Welcome to my reality, agreed that the power density is insane but the stress as well as the materials needed if one is to do it properly is on another level, with lifepo4 one only needs to add busbars and slap on a bms and u're done. All in less than an hour. And with the drastic reduction in prices of lifepo4 it's actually a no-brainer to move to the chemistry. However, for small compact systems, nothing beats lithium ion's energy density if you have the time. |

fuckboys:Please how is your bread inverter holding on? I'm considering getting the 3.5kva 24v inverter. What about the fan noise, i hope is not very loud |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by dollarnaira(op): 7:19pm On Jul 04, 2025*. Modified: 8:22pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
fuckboys:Thanks. Yes, energy need is the koko especially when all appliances need to be turned on at once. If done in bits 12v still works great with sense. If at I will hit 48v it will be 314ah i.e approximately 2m for cells only. For now, I will still do another 12v at 314ah --- 4kwh as an upgrade but with 6000w Satchet inverter. All die na die . |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:23pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
officialfestus:I don't think it will alter the amps |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by fuckboys: 8:16pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
ksmart027:fan noise not loud, but always on 24/7. Has a dual fan. Fan only gets loud during sunny hours when it’s firing juice into your battery and when it’s powering loads 40% and above its rated capacity. |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by dollarnaira(op): 8:24pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
fuckboys:Try replace the fans with brushless ones from controllers to inverters. |
