Well, I think most of their base are kids and young adults.. Ain't no way mature people find that stuff interesting.
Lol, mature people aged 25-35 are most likely the main target audience for films like Godzilla and King Kong.
Similar thing can be said about Jurassic World and that one probably has more adult_ demographic with the fact that it's major target would be Millennials— who got introduced to the franchise as kids and are now parents of kids 10-15+ yr olds.
So yeah, it's added advantage as it's a family movie. The parents would want to introduce their kids to the franchise that gave them nostalgia as kids.

Basically, MORE MONEY for the studios.
That's the sole reason you see the reboots, sequels and prequels more often this decade.

Yep. And many people are saying he's the heart of the movie.

The things James Gunn is cooking for this new universe ehn just dey totori me for body.
New projects and rumors I hear everyday just fill me with joy.

I just hope my favourite characters are brought to the fore soon, especially the magical/mystical side of DC.
Wait, he is the heart of the Superman movie? Omo I need to see this movie.

Don't worry bro, if they are already talking about bringing inter dimensional imps they'll surely bring magical characters. I can't wait to see Constantine interact with Batman bro

That's what I've heard so far from peeps who have watched it earlier weeks ago. They say he's a key part. Others say, [i]the heart.

So far Gunn seems like he'd deliver. Na the timing I just wish was faster.
I can't wait for them Etrigan, Swamp Thing, Constantine, Zatanna and the rest of the Justice League Dark team.

I for say Sandman universe too, but Netflix have been doing a yeoman's job.

Got put on to The Ramayana by a Twitter mutual. Still never got around to reading it yet. Same old story.

Anyways, Bollywood thought kindly to make a massive budget movie about it. Folks, this thing is looking like the biggest thing to come out of Bollywood this decade. I'm definitely sat.

Oh, and I found Hans Zimmer. Turns out the Indians have him. Jokes aside, a Hans Zimmer x A. R. Rahman collabo is not something I ever imagined but I now absolutely can't wait to hear what these 2 G.O.A.T.s have cooked

Goddamn.....this is looking pristine.

Hans Zimmer, studio DNEG and a Bollywood epic?
Count me in.

This might probably be the project to bring me back to the Bollywood fold.

What I don't like about their movies is the excessive singing and dancing, especially doing that shït in a serious scene. It just takes out of the experience and makes it hard to take such project seriously.

As a prime enjoyer of Bahubbali 1&2 I can say, I'm seated for this. Looking like a $120-150mn production spend.
I hope this is very serious and omit or reduce those dancing to the bearest minimum. I get it it's part of their culture but this wasn't the case in GOAT films like 3 Idiots.
Also make dem make the action realistic small abeg. No be to dey make fight scene too comical and artificial with "film tricks". 🌚

Indians have the platform and ability to match Hollywood with their biggest projects but they somehow are underperforming with the execution. They can spend big too, have the massive domestic market and support, good infrastructure support, technical skill and distribution networks but they're failing in the international appeal.

This seems to amaze me cos this people had a generation in chokehold around the world decades ago. Well, they say: nothing lasts forever.
Now Korea and Japan has stolen that thunder.
I'm hoping Nollywood can do the same in the foreseeable future. 👀🌚

China just flexed its muscles earlier this year on their might if they set their hearts to it, with NE ZHA 2.
These countries are the two Asian and few countries in the world who can spend eye watering amounts on blockbuster projects asides the US and to a lesser extent the UK.

Lol.... REVIVAL!! grin grin

I never still know wetin dem get up their sleeves or how this thing go work but NTA somewhat truly have a large audience... that's if previous data about their customer base have some semblance of truth.

Anyways, I read an upstart company or so was pioneering community cinema and there's a pilot in Ojo Barracks.

Simple theatre setting, without the razzmatazz associated with contemporary cinemas.... No popcorns and drink shït, no frills. Just come with your money and watch.

1,000 theatre count is their ambitious goal. 🧐🤔

I've always imagined what a cinema chain set up with simplicity and small scale like how Bokku Mart is in almost every corner you go in mainland Lagos.
Ambitious? I know, more especially due to the nature of theatricals. But it is doable if everyone pull resources together to make it work.
I don't believe Nollywood will make much headway if they continue to depend on foreigners like Netflix to do the job for them.

As much as streaming is cool and easy to use I feel there's a massive gap it can't fill even 5-7yrs from now in our market. Until, data and internet access (especially unlimited data) becomes cheaper than the essentials of an average Nigerian, the full ramifications of streaming really wouldn't be achieved in naija; and would just be limited to the few who can afford it and the required data.

That's the kind of project that I feel will be more impactful for Nollywood distribution woes and profitability. It's already now evident that the cinema culture over here is gradually growing.
I see multiple films yearly hitting over #100mn. That's despite the low theatre count we have in the country.

My two cents.

NTA's resolution is still hovering around 480p and 720p in this big 2025 😩. To put things in perspective, Japan's National Tv, NHK, broadcasts in Ultra HD 8k and has helped spread the gospel of anime, round the world, over the years.

I am taking anything NTA says they're gonna do with a pinch of salt, because quite frankly, they aren't a serious institution, and this isn't even a serious country even!. I am even more baffled, how they still exist!

I'll start Sandman 2 tomorrow. I enjoyed the first one really well. Gwendolyn as Lucifer was a stroke of genius, I didn't like it at first but then I saw what they were going for and it made sense.
Also made sense that the OG writers of the comics were part of the production team.

Yeah, they cooked with her casting and Neil Gaiman's involvement sealed the deal for me.

Reading the comics and some Lucifer stories I already knew what they were going for and wasn't bothered about her casting.
The previous Netflix Lucifer show is nothing about Lucifer Morningstar. Just some characters and malformed stories.

I heard it was a success as they made over #500k in tickets sales in a few months.

So it's how they scale up and manage the theatres that will determine. But that 1k theatre count is a big doubt to me.

If they can spread with even just 200+ community theatres around the country, then it's more than a success to me because even the big cinema chains presently don't have up to 200 Cinema locations between themselves.

That's my first thought. The last time I watched NTA while we were using StarTimes several years back before porting to GoTV, they were still stuck on 720p for their most premium channels.
But I doubt the usefulness of 8K....there's barely any 8K content and hardware to process it. It's future proof but it'd take a very long time before it becomes mainstream.

On NTA...I also don't take their rhetoric on this deal seriously cos I don't think their management is even serious about transforming the organisation.

But the organisation claimed they played a huge role in spreading the Nollywood gospel across Africa with "Tales By Moonlight" and "Things Fall Apart" etc.
So na wait and see. Where I think they'll probably have a bit of success if they're truly serious is most likely the Northern part of Nigeria. Cos I believe they still have some significant number of watchers over there. As for south here, it's a pipe dream.

Shadow Force - 5/10
Too bland and generic for me, bad guy catches the good guys and has them right where he wants them but doesn't kill them immediately. He goes off on a long monologue instead while the good guys also get their own monologues in, horse shit.
How did an albino even make it as an assassin anyways? And ironically one of the top assassin of the "shadow force" OP, more horseshit.

Only bright spot in this movie was the little kid who is a really good actor and "Diop" who i'd always watch.

I'd like to know what pot Tom Cruise is smoking....

$275mn for an Original project for a diminishing old actor, directed by Doug Liman? Are you fvvking kidding me.

If you're not a Chris Nolan or a mega franchise sequel, you have no business getting such funds for a project going forward.

Man can't even get MI:8 to hit $600mn box office on that massive $400mn. And he wants another mega sized budget?
In case Cruise is forgetting, he has two back to back flops in the past two years.

It's like that "Saviour" tag since Top Gun: Maverick has gotten into his head.

The early review are out despite strict review embargo and they are less than Tasteful ...

Uh oh!!! A John Cena movie is said to be better than James Gunn's SUPERMAN.

Now Variety takes a swipe at James Gunn's SUPERMAN in an unrelated review for Amazon’s Heads of State, an action-comedy starring John Cena and Idris Elba.

Variety says SUPERMAN is 'silly' and that Heads of State is more entertaining.

The jab comes after Gunn’s Superman faced harsh criticism from The Daily Beast, who called the DCU reboot “terrible” and the “final nail in the grave for the superhero genre.”

The question is how much of a mess can it truly be? undecided angry sad
