Thanks for this explanation my brother. The Igbo apprenticeship system is certainly unique in the whole world and quite ingenious. It should be taught in the universities and other research institutions.

The boss is responsible for feeding, housing and showing the boy the trick of the trade.
He gets valuable connections within this period.
if he is industruos and well behave, he will start making money even as an apprentice because he gets to remit the price his boss ask him to sell his goods, anything on top of the price belongs to him.
at the end of his servitude, his boss will rent a shop for him, equip it and give him the agreed amount as severance.
also he knows where to collect goods and payback after selling because of the contacts his boss have exposed him to.
So tell me, do you still think its slavery? how many universities give her graduands money to start life, give them start ups or rent and equip a place for them after years of studies.
