ednut1:Pure lies, 85% of northerners can't read, write or even speak. Though if you get to meet the few ones that can speak, you will enjoy their English in hausa tone, just that you gatz listen carefully. |

The person who conducted these stats doesn't know what he/she is doing, cause this is just to glorify the south west, if you know the illiteracy rate in this south west, he/she wouldn't come here with this stats and put southwest in 6th, they're best placed between 4 & 5 position, is it the region where you speak english to some of them and they'll get angry with you or ignore you just because they couldn't speak or understand english, same with the northerners, the south west is benefiting from the large population in lagos state that have mixed of tribes in there, that's more reason they don't travel to seek for work elsewhere apart from Lagos state |

ednut1:Can you write in Arabic? Of course we all know that we are referring to western education. And sincerely speaking how many Northerners can write in Arabic. The almagiri system of Islamic education in the North is in itself a promoter of all kinds of vice and not even Islamic literacy. |

BlackViper:Another serious indictment on the south east leaders. The rest of Nigeria gives them billions in excess of what the South-East region contributes, the South-East region has the smallest land mass which is just about the size of just one Oyo state in the South West and are the least populated ethnic group of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria. South-East should have the highest per capita yet they are always far behind in infrastructural and human development indices. The current generation and leaders of Southeast have turned the region to a parasite with entitlement mentality. This is unfair to the rest of the Southern Nigeria. This is a wake up call to everyone from the Southeast. |

CodeTemplarr:These are lie from the pit of hell. Those children from the north will easily write their name in Arabic. Is English their fathers language? Does that stop them from being an able entrepreneur or an engineer or a great researcher? Some naive but acclaimed sophisticated people thinks English is everything and the only indices for being educated. No wonder, one useless bagger from China who can neither write nor speak English will come to Nigeria and continue to Lord it over the citizens due to this kind of English slavery mentality people think that every white man is an English man. |

The reason such a beggar can achieve such is only that the level of literacy is indeed appalling in those communities and areas that lack the skills to build bridges and repair infrastructure for themselves. ![]() By the way, Literacy isn't about whether one can or cannot speak English. ![]() |
