President Bola Tinubu Held Bilateral Meeting With Brazilian President

It is a pleasure to be back in Rio, this time for the BRICS Summit, where I held a warm and productive pre-summit bilateral meeting with my dear friend, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.

Nigeria and Brazil share historic ties and common aspirations. I am pleased with the enhanced cooperation between our two countries over the past two years. Today, we agreed to further deepen collaboration in agriculture, technology, oil & gas, energy, trade, mining & extractive industries, and industrial development. These sectors are critical to inclusive growth and prosperity for both our peoples.

As two of the largest democracies in the Global South, we share a responsibility to lead with vision, courage, and fairness to shape a more balanced, equitable, and dignified global future.

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu contested against a sitting vice president, senate president; he contested against a sitting CBN Governor, against his party chairman; cabals in the presidency worked tirelessly against him, all efforts were made to make him lose the election but he came out victorious. Now, the same man is the sitting President and some politicians who cannot win their ward for their party feel it will be easy to send him packing? They’ve made all their moves, the master is watching and smiling. The next move by the master strategist will throw them into a total confusion. If Agbadorians do the mistake of making 2027 election North vs South, Tinubu will lose woefully. Focus on the important things. When did Tinubu become the Southern candidate? Northerners made him President with 5.6m votes out of his total 8.3m. He never won the South. Tinubu is the Muslim-Muslim candidate but that won't fly anymore.

You people are abusing this 'bilateral' word. It's a serious term for serious conversations by serious people. Where are the figures? When is it happening?

What specific figures on trade or collaborations were reached?
What specific issues or concerns were addressed and when is it due?
What specifically are both countries working together to resolve and when is the turnaround?

Two individuals cannot be exchanging pleasantries on their own personal recognition, having surface level banter and you 'plaster' the word bilateral.

Though, I am not a fan of Tinubu, but have you seen anywhere Buhari is hugged tight like this? That man is brain dead and the outside world knows it. But this man Tinubu has got something that attracts. I don't like his style, but I am grateful for the infrastructure he is doing though I know he is making his boys rule over everything, but it is still better. Sooner, another person will rule out all his boys there like the way he bulldozed off Buhari's men in ADC now. Lol. I just want to see development in Nigeria even innthe midst of corruption.

President Tinubu seems to be striving to better the country, visiting and calling for investments far and wide....Reminds me of our former President, Chief Obasanjo, who 'junketed' and stayed out of Nigeria, according to late Gani Fawehinmi, for a total period of one year out of the four years in his first term.

However Prez Bola Tinubu, with his humble demeanour, looks much more serious in securing FDI and building relationships with nations that matter worldwide. Remember he was just in St. Lucia last week?

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”
