Seven Coalition Leaders Interested In Tinubu’s Seat – Ex-ADC Chair by Great100000(op): 1:09pm On Jul 06, 2025
Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ralph Nwosu, has disclosed that at least seven prominent figures in the coalition movement are being pushed by supporters to contest the 2027 presidential election against President Bola Tinubu.

Nwosu stated this amid growing speculation that some northern power blocs within the coalition movement are already backing the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate for a one-term deal.

The opposition coalition, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Wednesday, adopted the ADC as its platform for the 2027 presidential contest.

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, Nwosu said there were seven coalition leaders being tipped to replace Tinubu in 2027, but the ADC would embrace an open selection process.

Aside from Obi, he said supporters of Atiku, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Kaduna and Osun states governors, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, and those of the Oyo State 2023 ADC governorship candidate, Bamidele Ajadi, were all rooting for their respective leaders to succeed Tinubu.

“We all have the right of expression. And as far as the coalition is concerned, everybody is important, and that is the beauty of the new party we are growing.

“There are some people who want Aregbesola to run. There are also people who are rooting for Dr Ganiyu Bamidele Ajadi to run. There are also people rooting for Amaechi to run. There are also those calling for Atiku to run.

“El-Rufai also has his own plan. Even Sule Lamido is also running. I have been part of the coalition conversations, and I know the personalities that are interested in running. So, I am telling you from the inside. Even the old ADC may be backing Ajadi. That tells you it is free, and that is democracy. But the selection process will be open and transparent,” Nwosu said.

He explained that as the coalition movement gathers momentum, supporters of the presidential hopefuls were holding engagements, even as the Peoples Democratic Party, and the All Progressives Congress continue to lose their membership base to the ADC.

“People are working together and having conversations. So, we will gradually start to see the leadership in each person. The real model will start to create the new Nigeria and the African renaissance that all of us are interested in. As I have said, it’s beyond politics and power. It is to rescue Nigeria from ICU to global reckoning.

“This is a big coalition. What we have built within this short time of coming together is bigger than any political party in Nigeria. Already, 95 percent of the PDP has collapsed into our party with all their networks and grassroots stuff. For the APC, over 35 percent of their membership is collapsing into this movement. The Labour Party is seeing over 80 percent coming to us,” he revealed.

The more, the merrier. There is no way the total votes of all the 7 candidates added together won’t sack Tinubu from office, and just like that a new Nigeria we’ve been dreaming will be born before our very eyes.

The mistake LP and PDP made last election was to allow different candidates contest under different parties. This time around all 7 presidential candidates will contest under ADC and INEC will record their individual votes under ADC, so APC is gone. No magic will save Tinubu this time, congratulations Nigerians

If Atiku gets it, the obidients won’t support the coalition. Majority of the people who voted Obi did so because they wanted a Christian president or a younger president. So more than half of his votes wouldn’t go to Atiku.

If Obi gets it, Atiku will go back to Dubai and stop insulting his friend Tinubu. Most northern leaders wouldn’t put in the effort to support the coalition. Some people think Obi did well in 2023 because he was underestimated and basically ran unopposed. APC and PDP were so focused on each other. This wouldn’t happen in 2027.

All pointers indicates Obi will get the ticket. The chairman of the party is a Northerner. All major southern candidates have insisted on power remaining south. I think Atiku will chill for now and promise to do one term in 2031.

Either ways, non of them can defeat the incumbent. Obi isn’t popular in the North and Atiku’s Northern influence is overrated. He’s ran thrice and he failed in the North all three times. Without the PDP platform he may not be able to get 3m votes in an election.

If it takes 7 men to form a coalition against 1 man then this man must be a very special superhuman.

Guess what? They've all (excluding El-rufai) tried and failed before. 2027 will not be an exception.

He will flog their fathers once again. Jagaban has been fighting and conquering his foes since time immemorial.

No living Politician in Nigeria today from the demographics and Geo-politics of Nigeria can win PBAT without a coalition.

It's left for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to read the room and endorse PO for a four (4) year Presidency.

If Atiku decides to contest he will not get up to 5,000 votes from the entire South of Nigeria.

He better be wise !

2027 will be very interesting.

I keep saying it, none of them will bother going to the tribunal this time around.

Obi will leave twitter and focus on his business. Atiku back to Dubai permanently. El-Rufai on a premature permanent retirement.

Aisha Yesufu will be back in America to give her husband twin girls.

With the way it is as at today, PO can win any election without shi-shi.

His followership is cult-like and organic.

Bwala, Omokri and Onanuga do this one ooo.

Aregbesola should ask for two years since others are asking for single term of 4years. It will give him upper hand in negotiation.

At this point anyone would be better than his terrible regime ...but without strong electoral reforms ,this man will still buy a second term, if he can do it as a private citizen,u could just imagine what he can do as a sitting president...but if we citizens is together to remove this cancer called APC no amount of Rigging will save them...if buharia who we thought was a terrible president is better than tinubu then it's just obvious that we will see people who worked with buharia to be better than those working with tinubu government, buharia delivered a bad economy but tinubu is totally determined to destroy not only our economy but our freedom as citizens of Nigeria...he wants to keep us in chains like lagosians but we won't have it

Who are those in the coalition?

They're all rejected and expired politicians.

Can anyone of them deliver their respective states to the coalition?

Can El Rufai win kaduna for the coalition?

Can Aregbesola win Osun?

Can Rotimi Ameachi win Rivers State?

Can Sule Lamido win Jigawa state?

Can David Mark win Benue state?

Can Tom Ikimi and John Oyegun put together win Edo State?

Can bolaji abdullahi win kwara state?

You guys don't know anything.

Round one: Fight

Decamping loading, time to get dirty. Southerners won't vote for a northerner 🤷.
Recipe for disaster, I can remember clearly watching TV were Dr Bukola Saraki said PDP will have problems from the south east, that was before the 2023 general elections🤷, it's going to happen again 🤐
