Former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, is facing renewed public scrutiny over his record in office, following a sharp social media criticism by former presidential aide, Reno Omokri. Omokri, former aide to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, took to platform X (formerly Twitter) to highlight delays experienced by Nigerians during Aregbesola’s tenure. In a post shared on July 5, 2025, Omokri wrote:“Under Aregbesola as Interior Minister, Nigerians waited as much as two years to get passports due to a passport booklet shortage. Today, Nigerians get their passports in under two weeks.” The post, which included an image of Aregbesola in his signature maroon uniform, triggered widespread reactions online. Many Nigerians recalled their struggles with the Nigerian Immigration Service during that period, as backlogs and booklet scarcity created long delays in passport issuance. The controversy is said to come at a sensitive political moment, as Aregbesola recently emerged as the interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition positioning itself as a major opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections. While Aregbesola has vowed to help reposition the ADC as a “people-centered political force,” according to a recent Punch report, Omokri’s comments is said to have casted a shadow over his public service record and raise questions about his credibility in championing reform.

We at our great party ADC don't believe in any sort of propaganda from fugitives. Nigeria is not working at the moment. We need a breath of fresh air.

Reno indeed is a meticulous record keeper, he made me remember this funny picture once again, I don dey laugh since. See Aregbe like village headmaster, the man turned interior ministry into comedy center. His only achievement was declaring public holidays 😂🤣🤣 |

True! I have personal admiration for Tunji-Ojo and the work he’s doing at the Ministry of Interior. I hope he governes his state someday and deliver same way. Ondo will be lucky. Another person I admire his work in this administration is Zach Adedeji of the defunct FIRS. Man is silently delivering. When you see people that are good, you say it irrespective of the side they are on. I’m not like Tinubu supporters who don’t see anything good in anyone not supporting Tinubu. Now, to Aregbesola, his capacity is irrelevant because he’s a mere party secretary which has zero influence on the life of the masses. What we should concern ourselves with is who emerges candidate of the coalition and not these inanities. |

There is one religious Muslim fanatic who used to defend Aregbe all because he has a beard thinking he is 'religious'. I told him then, forget this thing.

Putindbutt:Under SW president, Nigerians have died more in 2 years as a result of poverty and hunger that we have ever witnessed in any government. A president worst than Buhari needs to be in Guinness books of records. What wike has stolen as minister under Tinubu makes abacha a saint on blotted contracts. Then that minister of works is another. Then SW president is shipping the loot to that country he went for vacation that barely exist in world map |

The hunger and need to ass lick as don so much damage to the brain. What f**king foundation did be built in 8yrs as interior minister, after how many years as a governor in Osun state? |
