Opposition arrowhead Peter Obi says he will contest for the office of the President in 2027, dismissing rumours that he will be running mate for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it,” Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, said on Sunday Politics programme.

When asked whether he was considering becoming the running mate to Atiku, in the 2027 election, Obi said, “This is not in play; nobody has ever discussed that. People assume so many things. Nobody has ever discussed with me whether I am going to be A or B or C.”

The former Anambra State governor stressed that he remain a vibrant member of the Labour Party though he is an active member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition adopted by the opposition to unseat President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who is eyeing a second term of four years in office in 2027.

“I am part of the coalition which will be able to produce a president with the capacity and compassion to save this country,” he said.

At this point, I will advise Atiku to go for Mikel Obi, after all Obi is still Obi! shocked

Anyway, all the politicians planning to take positions in so called ADC will now know that the party goes nowhere...It is all about Atiku and nothing more!

I don't know who will be the Presidential flag bearer of the coalition party come 2027, but whoever emerges the flag bearer of the coalition party, we will support that person with our full chest and that person will beat Bola Tinubu come 2027.

Whatever rigging plans the APC and Tinubu have in mind will come to nothing; affliction will never rise a second time in Nigeria. This Tinubu calamity must pass us by come 2027.

Nigeria cannot afford to have Tinubu continue as President after May 2027.

Tinubu have nothing to offer except tribal division of Nigeria, nothing more, nothing less. The more he remains in office, the more Nigeria is divided along ethnic divide and it's sad, Tinubu must go angry

You are very intelligent.. The only difference this time is that, Peter Obi will not see 3Million votes in 2027 and Atiku will not get up a Million votes in the whole of South..Nobody will care to mention his name, let alone defend his votes. grin

yes at least by this time next year every agbero union members will receive bullion van from the bullion vans manufacturer.beside una replaced buhari with buhari pro max(Tinubu) how can any reasonable person want to replace Tinubu with another Tinubu (Atiku).so if its not obi let agbero chairman continue Biko at least it's favoring agbero union with their families

The only problem is that Obi rarely keeps his word, he can get advice from his m@d m@n special adviser again to be Atiku’s VP

But on a serious note, why are Obidients scared of Obi facing Tinubu alone? He defeated him in Lagos and I believe he will do it again, many are ignorant of a clause in our constitution that a candidate can become president without winning the majority votes if he beats the top candidate twice in Lagos. That’s where we should all send our PVC like we did in 2023 to send Tinubu packing
