For where? They keep recycling oldies and sidelining able and vibrant youths
if you didn't know about an issue the ideal is to keep mute.

They need to start selecting younger people for olubadan , this idea of selecting geriatrics is not good
No it is ok. We the sons and daughters of Ibadan love it like that. We will keep that part of our tradition intact. Whoever is next will become king, we will not turn the ibadan obaship and throne into APC vs PDP battle of highest spender. The young will grow and have their time. The same way Ladoja was patient when he could have been selected because he was younger, healthier with more finances and clout. If God says the young will be king, it will happen. But for us, we will continue to respect our existing rotation strategy.

One of the best kingship succession style, except the Olubadans don't last due to extreme old age.

But I believe the next Olubadan Ladoja will stay longer since he's seem much younger(80 years old)

If he gets to his 90s then at least we can get 10 years of Olubadan-ship.
But 80 years isn’t young either especially in a country where the life expectancy is barely 50.

Na wah for ibadan and this funny kingship arrangement o. A new king every year haaa. Former Gov Ladoja becomes king straight. I feel they should review it
are the people complaining? You just carry other people's traditions for head like cap.

your comments makes it clear u ain't Yoruba.

Let me explain it to u

There are 23 ladders u have to climb before becoming the king n before u enter number 23 u must first b d head of your extended family, the head of your clan n co n before u can even try to b d head of anything u must first have money n b established

So the at least u will b around 40 before all the elders can assent to it that u are d head n from there u start climbing the ladder.

U have to start from number 23, n one thing about it is that u all will queue till it reach your turn n once u join the line u will b mandated to swear by oath n u will b initiated so u must not wish d person in your front bad or send assassin to kill him.

So tell me how can a young person ever become the king in that instance, some will b on the queue till they die.

So that's kingship for u in Ibadan, just observe the next king will b around 85

We had he’s dead before the 90th birthday. It wasn’t announced because of the normal right
I am aware of his death before now but it's now officially announced.

His reign was barely a year.

I wonder if they will go for a youngling next time.
We will go for the next in line, based on the existing rotation strategy. Oluwo of Iwo is young, elegushi oba is young, ipetumodu oba is young....that the oba is young does not necessarily bring anything to the throne or the city.
The next in line will become Olubadan of Ibadan and we are happy Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja will be our king, God spare his life.

Ibadan just have to change their mode of picking their kings. Kilode?! Rest on Kabiesi.
Why should ibadan change their mode of picking kings. What exactly is wrong with the current system. A system where there is peace, a system that respects order, no matter what. As long as you are alive, if you are next, you are going to become king. Why do you want us to change it.

You all should watch out for the most glamorous coronation of all time. Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja is here.

We love our 70s and 80s kinging, the younger in their 50s, 60s, 40s and 30s and 20s should do business and politics and drive development with their energy to run around and all of that.

I believe Ladoja will stay more than 90 years. At least, 10 years will pass before we hear of another Olubadan.

All hail Olubadan Ladoja.
Oba Olankulehin managed to receive the crown and become king probably because he was destined to taste kingship shortly before departing this world.

Hoping Ladoja will be more active and his reign better than what has been observed for Olubadans in recent years

That's why Ibadan is very peaceful. At least in Obaship tussle, there is none! No bad blood, it's all orderly and respected in the selection process.
