Abeg, your USSR went to Afghanistan, against the advice of some politburo members, and got severely kneecapped and drained.

You can mock the us over Vietnam. But Afghanistan? Afghanistan is a country that if you must win there, you would have to violate all manners of war conventions, ancient and modern. It's that kind of place. It is a country of ultra stubborn people.

It took six bloody and wasteful wars before the armies of Islam could conquer that place. The Greeks had to forcefully colonize the place with their people ( Kandahar was a city founded by Alexander the Great as part of that project which was settled with Greeks alone at first) and even then they too lost control. Iran..same issue centuries ago. India was never successful. And the British can tell you tales of how they lost and lost and lost.

The Americas and Russia did not learn from the past before entering there.

If you are a general and want to win in Afghanistan, just study how the Mongols and the Assyrians fought their wars, and be ten times worse than them. That's how to win in Afghanistan. Not by trying to secularise them as both the Americans and Russians did.
