How Nigerian Police Deceptively Edited My Videos To Implicate Me — Influencer ‘Ijele’ Speaks On Year-Long Detention Without Trial Ordered By Self-Acclaimed Prophet Ebuka Obi

A Nigerian social media influencer, Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, widely known as Ijele Speaks II, has recounted how the Nigeria Police Force intentionally altered his videos to frame him regarding a case involving Nigerian self-acclaimed preacher, Prophet Ebuka Obi.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Ijele spent over a year in detention across multiple police formations and prisons in Abuja and Lagos.

His detention was orchestrated by Prophet Ebuka Obi.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the social media influencer revealed disturbing details of how he was allegedly lured, detained, and imprisoned without trial over comments he made online exposing fake miracles and manipulative tactics of religious leaders like Ebuka Obi.

“I'm not necessarily against Ebuka Obi. I'm against anyone that is deceiving the people under the guise of religion — be it Christian or Muslim, or a traditionalist like me,” Ijele began.

“Whether they say they're practicing spirituality or religion, you still have the people that are using it to fool the people, playing on the ignorance of the masses. And in the case of Ebuka Obi, there are so many things. Where do I even start?”

“So many fake miracles. Like they are basically fake. When someone will tell you that if he touches a key or a padlock, it will open. That people are using padlock to tie people's destinies—who is still believing that in 2025?”

Lamenting the hold of religious dogma and its consequences on Nigerian youth, Ijele stated: "This is the technological age we are in now. If we must tell ourselves the truth, the people still keep using these mundane and agnostic beliefs to fool the people. And if you notice, it has created this culture of laziness amongst our youth and the enmity they are bringing.”

“Another instance was when he [Ebuka Obi] told one girl that her vitiligo was as a result of witchcraft from her mother-in-law. And this happens to be a popular woman in Onitsha. At the end of the day, the children stopped speaking with their mother. They said she’s a witch.”

“And he's not the only person doing it. Let it not seem as if I'm targeting just him. If you check all my platforms, I've been calling out all manner of people. It has pretty much become a culture in Nigeria. When you start exposing it, they say you're attacking him. What do they mean by attack? It's not an attack, I'm just stating the obvious.”

Ijele narrated how he was lured by police officers under false pretences on March 19, 2024, and how what seemed like a routine invitation turned into a year-long ordeal involving deception, court manipulation, and health complications.

“I received a text message from one police officer here in Abuja to come and answer a petition written against me. They didn’t say who wrote it. I went there two days before the scheduled time, and they started asking me questions about my relationship with Ebuka Obi.”

“They deceptively edited my own videos and showed them to me, asking ‘Who said this?’ I told them to take it to court if they actually believed I had committed a crime.”

“Then they told my friends and lawyers to leave, assuring them I would be released. But the next day, they seized my properties and threw me into a cell. They didn’t let me call anyone. The next morning, they took me to a magistrate court in Wuse, but instead of taking me into a courtroom, they took me to a dusty room that hadn’t been used in weeks.”

“I was shocked. There was no magistrate, no judge, and no hearing. Suddenly, someone from the Kefi prison brought a remand order. And that was how it all started.”

He said that his illegal detention continued even after the magistrate court struck out the case.

“After four weeks, Magistrate Iyana struck out the case for lack of jurisdiction but refused to issue a release order. That same day, they moved to another court in the same compound and secured another remand order from Magistrate Chioma Mawachi.”

“She can't deny it's her. Her Facebook page showed she graduated from law school. We have all the files. If she likes, she can delete them; we will use the Wayback Machine to retrieve everything.”

Despite back-to-back cases being thrown out for jurisdictional irregularities, Ijele remained in detention.

“Meanwhile, Barrister Deji Adeyanju had filed a fundamental human rights case at the Federal High Court. The hearing was set for May 26. But on May 9, Obiori Ejiofor, brother to Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, filed another suit in Lagos. They brought a production order before our court date even arrived.”

“I was taken from Keffi to Abuja airport. But the last flight to Lagos had left. They locked me in a police cell near the airport with handcuffs, calling me a ‘dangerous criminal.’ Then they moved me to Lagos. The court didn’t sit due to rain, so they took me to Zone 2 police station. From there, I was remanded in Ikoyi Prison.”

“Thankfully, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) and his wife represented me pro bono. I applied for bail and got hit with N50 million bail conditions, level 14 civil servants, and landed property—over a case where I had already spent 58 days.”

While waiting to perfect the bail, Ijele's health took a drastic turn.

“Suddenly, I fell ill. Both my kidneys failed. Ebuka Obi had gone on air earlier saying I would have organ damage — not him. How did he know that? I was perfectly fine before that. I have medical records to show it.

“As soon as we perfected the bail in August 2024, another case from Awka surfaced. Their media people had already been posting that they would bring their ‘father’ (Ebuka Obi) to Awka to ‘finish me.’”

“I know the involvement of ESN and IPOB criminals in this. Let no one pretend otherwise. The prosecutor in that matter, again, is Obiori Ejiofor — Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer’s brother.”

“They tried every trick. They even tried to influence the Interior Minister to transfer me to Awka by force.”

According to him, the new Attorney General of the Federation stepped in after the case file was withheld by the police for months despite a transfer to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

“The DPP took over in October 2024, but police didn't release the case file until late January 2025. And this happened under the Anambra State Police Command, where I’ve exposed several illegal oil operations.”

“They know I exposed their illegal oil drilling. They know I exposed their spiritual scams. That’s why they wanted me in Awka. But eventually, we got the case transferred to Lagos, and my original bail carried over.”

“That’s how I eventually regained my freedom, contrary to all the things they are selling to people around me.”
