The Kaduna State Government has decided to refund those who bought houses and landed properties of Queen Amina and Alhuda-huda Colleges that were sold by the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

In a statement by the Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, the Government said “in fulfilment of its promise to refund those who bought houses at Queen Amina College Kaduna, Alhuda-huda College Zaria and Government Commercial College Zaria, Kaduna State Government will commence payment on Monday, 7th July, 2025”.

Besides, it will be recalled that Governor Sani had revoked all previous sales of institutional houses in those legacy schools for overriding public interest.

Meyere said, “in an earlier statement issued on 22nd April, 2025, Kaduna State Government had pledged that steps were being taken to refund amounts paid in respect of the sold houses as directed by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.”

According to him, “Kaduna State Government is hereby notifying beneficiaries that their cheques will be ready for collection at the Secretariat of the Sale of Non Essential Government Houses, Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kawo, upon presenting the following documents, evidence of payment, a valid means of identification (voter’s cards, National ID card etc), bank details (Bank name, Account number, a Bank Verification Number slip), a recent statement of account and two passport photographs”.

He added that “Kaduna State Government wishes to reiterate its commitment to make the atmosphere within and around schools conducive for learning, in its efforts to boost Human Capital Development.”

I suspect propaganda here because Uba Sani govt is known to be adept at that. It was Elrufai that restored the sanctity of public facilities especially hospitals, clinics and schools. One of his first moves was to evict some houses constructed within a boarding secondary school I think in Zaria. During Elrufai, you dare not build anything attached to a school fence, a departure from the rife practise of building shops along such structures. Today, Uba Sani has allocated green areas including sections of public schools to his cronies. Elrufai himself sold government properties but it was well advertised in the dailies. But Uba's case is discreet and covered with propaganda.
