Several Injured as Danfo Bus Somersaults on Third Mainland Bridge After Collision

Multiple passengers were reportedly injured in a serious road accident that occurred on Monday, July 7, on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, involving a commercial bus (Danfo) and a Toyota Camry sedan. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to a statement released by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the crash took place before Adekunle Junction, heading inward Lagos Island. The commercial bus was said to have somersaulted several times following the collision, leading to chaos and injuries at the scene.
RRS, Police Provide Immediate Rescue

RRS operatives, including bikers and patrol units, arrived swiftly at the scene to administer first aid and coordinate rescue operations. Officers from the Adekunle Police Division also joined in the emergency response, assisting with traffic management and aiding victims.

“A road accident between a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus ‘Danfo’ has left several passengers injured on 3rd Mainland Bridge,” the RRS said in its official statement.
“The commercial bus somersaulted multiple times. Our teams and officers from Adekunle Police Division are on the ground assisting with rescue and medical support.”

Extent of Injuries Yet to Be Confirmed

As of the time of filing this report, the number of injured passengers has not been officially confirmed, but eyewitnesses say several people sustained varying degrees of injuries. Emergency responders reportedly transported some victims to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
Traffic Alert for Commuters

Motorists plying the Third Mainland Bridge were advised to exercise caution, as traffic congestion built up quickly following the incident. Authorities are working to clear the scene and restore normal flow.
Ongoing Investigation

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigeria Police are expected to launch a formal investigation into the cause of the accident. Speeding and reckless lane changes are suspected contributors, according to preliminary eyewitness reports.

Women drivers are very stubborn behind the steering. Very heartless, they won't shift but rather allow you crash and it ends up consuming then. Fear female truck drivers

Sad news daily since APC became the ruling party

For the money it churns and taxes , for the status it brags about Lagos needs more mass transit buses, the danfo spec buses are too small to handle the large crowds of commuters the city witnesses everyday.

We hope no life was lost, this is a traumatic experience and shouldn't happen if proper vehicles are in place to ferry people. If the government is not willing to invest it should create an enabling environment for investors to do the needful.

BRT is very inadequate. Transportation in any city should never be monopolized by cronies.

As we dey find our daily bread, make we no jam agbako, make We reach house in one piece.

Commercial bus drivers in Lagos have become something else. The high degree of substance taken is immeasurable. My kindly advice to anyone going to island please if possible try to avoid boarding all these 18 seater bus. It's the home of death.

You'll surely get ticket of 50k.
And it will multiply as you contrnue.
