IbeOkehie:
I agree that the reforms are necessary. They don't even go far enough, but they're good enough to slow down the downward trajectory for now.

You must also remember that Bola Tinubu opposed the very same reforms when President Jonathan implemented them in 2012. Mr Tinubu exploited his control of Lagos to force a retention of fuel subsidies. Anyone who praises Tinubu without mentioning that history is a hypocrite at best.

The current reforms are shallow and will only bring temporary relief. The Land Use Act, Petroleum Industry Act and Solid Minerals Act all need to be repealed and robust property rights introduced to Nigeria. All taxes should be scrapped and replaced by a VAT with a Constitutionally set maximum of 9% and maybe a 1% extra tax on the top 1% income earners.

The bitcoin and etherium should be made legal tender. There should be legal restrictions on the ability of the CBN to create money. There should be laws to DISCOURAGE anyone from becoming a government employee and ALL citizens must be allowed to own arms and furthermore the government should be mandated to arm each citizen with a fully automatic rifle at a minimum.

The Federal Government should be prohibited by law from setting prices for ANYTHING, including forex and labor. No government should own ANY commercial entity and ONLY State governments should be allowed to own schools, universities and hospitals, airports and seaports and bridges.

Good Luck to Nigerians
The bold is very unrealistic. No reasonable country has initiated such. The rest are appropriate, but Tinubu cannot initiate all of them and yes, anyone who denies his involvement in ousting Jonathan and opposing the removal of fuel subsidies then is a tribalistic liar and hypocrite.

it has nothing to do with US, people with better career in Nigeria than him(in the same showbiz) are doing great in the US
-no dey follow crowd.
When all these people complain about abroad especially US, just ask them whether na visiting visa dem use go yankee, dem no come come back.
Anybody wey go with F1 or J1 or spouse visa, or those that won visa lottery years back, their own kind of complaint no be regret, it is always can u imagine i am starting all over again, but they can see that land flowing with milk and honey within their reach, they can measure their progress every month.
That was the question I asked when I first saw the headline. What was the category of visa that he used to move to the US? Entertainers shouldn't move when they're building their fan base. Banky W and Omotola are outliers and both moved after having solid careers in Nigeria.

I understand your wariness on crypto and restricting fiat. I ascribe it to FEAR of the unknown. The major problems in rich countries today are central bank money printing and HEALTHCARE. Both are incompatible with classical free markets. CRYPTO is a possible solution for central banking.

The United States has abused the dollar. Your Japan prints and borrows recklessly.

President Tinubu himself as far back as 2013 campaigned vigorously for the CBN to print money and distribute to Nigerians and when his party took over government they did exactly that. The results are stark and evident.

So please how does one prevent government from debasing its currency? It doesn't have to be crypto but something has to be done.

Anyway Nigeria is VERY UNLIKELY to do any major reforms. So the point is moot. Thus the prospects for the future will remain poor COMPARED to other nations. The Black African simply doesn't have what it takes.

Illegal immigrants are also generally able to make good lives for themselves in the USA and live better than they likely did in Nigeria.

I'm shocked that even President Trump has been unable to alter that. Nobody is chasing illegal immigrants around. If you don't commit a crime you're LIKELY to do just fine. Maybe it gets worse in the coming months and years but for now, I don't see any wahala.

Angelfrost:
Countries like Canada, parts of U.S, Europe, etc, are not and can never be like Nigeria in terms of culture and social life.

If your priority is family and socialising, then do your mental health a favor by sitting your b*tt back in this 3rd world nation.

You can't and shouldn't go abroad, then start demanding for the very things you enjoyed and even took for granted in Nigeria... That's childish and silly.
Social life in Anglo-Western nations is far better than in Nigeria. Unfortunately POVERTY and FEAR of poverty has ruined ALL relationships in Nigeria. This is very real. The desperation is destructive.

In Nigeria poverty is sociable, it's the norm. Nigeria is THE PLACE for those who enjoy observing, interacting with or living in poverty. Nigeria is the POVERTY CAPITAL of the world.

Good Luck to Nigeria

Why did you regret it?

I asked cuz Italy is one place I’ll like to visit..

People like to have their own experiences. The more you try to make them see otherwise, the more firm they become in their convictions. It's why the good Lord always say, "he who has ear to hear, let him hear!"

Unfortunately, personal experience is not always the best teacher.

N.B. It's the racism, cold and food for me. You will always catch yourself trying to prove yourself, as you are not ok simply being a human.
There are Africans food everywhere overseas I have been there and I know that very well. For the racism aspect, even in Nigeria come even reach here for nairaland, tribalism wan kill everybody, so if we even here in for Naija can't even love ourselves and treat ourselves as one then why do u now expect people from another race entirely who sees most Africans especially Nigerians as criminals to now love us? As for the cold, nobody send u message, na u by urself waka go there, even the indigenous people over there do always cover their body 2,4,7, because of the cold talk less of u an outsider. So ur reason nor follow road at all

You are very correct.
Banky moved to the US on a student visa and I have reasons to believe he is currently in the pool for EB2 or EB1.
Omotola got her EB1 approved and got her green card in Nigeria before relocating to the US, na just to break into hollywood dey give am issues, and it looks like she does not want to really pivot to some other industry
Teju Baby face similar story...these people came in with the right visas and yes having a solid career in Nigeria before moving(like u said) improved their negotiation power, whether for EB1 or EB2 or consultancy gigs or whatever route they wana take.

Some will come in as married on visiting visa, overstay the visa, then years down the road they start saying coming to US na mistake. Especially all these upcoming artistes and nollywood people. No plan no strategy, just i be star i be celebrity i dey go America

Everything you stated is appropriate. However, just to correct something, Banky W is an American citizen. He studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before then, he went to Corona Schools - the same school that the CBN governor and Yemi Osinbajo studied. Banky W's mom from Akwa Ibom worked at ExxonMobil. His wife, Adesuwa, is a British citizen and also a Corona School alumna.

My own regret is not leaving Nigeria much earlier. Every time I went on vacation my friends would literally beg me not to go back to 9ja. But foolishly for over 10 years I was going and coming back until a few years ago. And when i did my only regret was not having left 9ja much much earlier. A so called big man in 9ja is only an acting big man. Basic necessities eludes him
