37.5% score in any exam all over the world is FAIL. Recommending candidates who fail university entrance exam for university admission is a fraudulent attempt to reward lazy and educationally unqualified candidates.
University education should be for those willing to make the rigorous sacrifice to earn it. No nation on earth should allow this disgrace.
JAMB and its management need to be prosecuted for this.

The Truth is that JAMB has been ambushed by the Tertiary Institutions, insisting on their Students Population because they don't want to Discipline themselves that Standard remains a Standard.
While should you lower the Standards of Education this manner and don't you know the Messages you are sending to the Majority of the Youth

Despite the mass failure of this year, the cut-off score is still higher. Is that retrogression for you?

Universities should not depend on JAMB scores alone for assessing candidates for admission.

For some of us that went to University in 70's and 80's, the maximum JAMB score has always been 400 while cut off point for certain programs like Law, Medicine are in the range of 258-270, Engineering was 240 - 260, Social Sciences etc. in the range of 235, all depends on the University.

So, what went WRONG to downgrade to "150" cut off point

These so called educational stake holders should be ashamed of themselves, three top students scored above 370/400. Even with a standard deviation curve or percentile, it cannot be this low.
Does our youth have problems with education, "YES". Do we need to restructure the current curriculum, "absolutely". However, the so called stake holders are aiding and abating in destroying already wounded and wrecked public educational system.

No wonder most of Nigerian graduates are "GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT"

Education is on a nosedive. Imagine 150 out of 400. We are now at the level of the northern educational disadvantaged states.
Our students are now mostly lazy. They are only interested in links to join yahoo boys for quick money and the girls... You all know them.

You can't blame them either because after graduation there is no job and another childhood suffering will start again

Abroad, in europe if you get 50, its a fail. 60 is pass then 95 is excellent. Here na 70 be excellent

The secret is that those times was due to runs and expo students are using to score high and not real intellectual abilities...

I may not quite agree in all. The graduates of those days are sound and better equipped in their areas of study than what we are seeing today.
I find it difficult to believe that any country that is looking up to be at par with the fast evolving tech world will approve 150/400 (37%) as pass .

Most colleges in US and Western countries has 75% - 80% as Pass (C)

We keep lowering the bar. It's bad timing for an era where creative and qualitative thinking keep depreciating

What does the future hold for people who enter like this?

150? That is ridiculous and not motivating for children of nowadays who are more engulfed in social media nonsense and internet fraud. This is as well not encouraging for teachers as there won't be enough reason to enforce discipline in them. Students go just use teacher laugh after scoring 152 and gaining admission to higher institution.
Come to think of it, 150 divided by 4 is 37.5 which ideally is a grade F in scoring points. This is a shame.

According to Alausa, while special consideration will be given to exceptionally gifted students or those on accelerated educational tracks, such exceptions must be properly documented.

Good development. JAMB has also set the benchmark for exceptionally gifted students to be 80% or 320/400 score in JAMB examination.

Even the poster who posted 'Universities sets" is a victim of the failed system.
Standard gone to dog level in Nigeria. Boko Haram (Western Education is Haram) politicians have been in charge since 2015.

Why would standard of Education not go down in Nigeria?

Muhammadu Buhari the Islamic extremist as president appointed a professor of Sharia laws as JAMB Registrar.

Well OKEKE CHINEDU CHRISTIAN scored the highest in the whole of Nigeria

Very soon cut off mark will be 50 for university and 20 for poly and COE

I don't really know the craze about Mechanical Engineering. It is a crazy course.
