I remember a brilliant young man being sponsored to go abroad so he stopped going to school, when the sponsorship didn’t work out as expected (it was delayed), he was far behind in school and had to write another JAMB exam

By JAMB's regulations, is it not allowed for an enrolled student in a university or expelled from the university, to sit for another JAMB in order to move to another university to study a different course?

I know many students that rewrote JAMB after they were offered courses they didn't fancy. Mind you, such students were already admitted into courses such as Medical laboratory, Biochemistry, Microbiology etc. Some others rewrote JAMB while studying Theatre Arts, Linguistics etc to get admitted into Law.

Students expelled from medicine finish with first class or a 4.4something 2-1 in other departments.

You can't and won't understand if you are not in the system.

This guy may have had all As in his Year 1 courses but a D in one. This is enough to kick him out of medschool when crossing from Year 1 to 2.

Another possibility..preclinical courses in medschool need a different approach...not the same way Year 1 courses (physics, chemistry, biology) are read. There are students that score 5.0 in Year 1 but fail out when they go into preclinicals because of this. You won't understand if you are not in the system.

We can't hastily say one cheated in an exam especially when we have no evidence. Let's not rubbish the genuine efforts of great minds in the country.

Since he was expelled on account of poor performance at UNN and not cultism or any other infringement, there shouldn't be any reason to stop him from writing JAMB again and seeking admission into another university. Or does the law say that once one is expelled from a university, one shouldn't try another university?

Honestly, I don't get the ''but''.

Sometimes, some universities make their programs unnecessarily difficult with so many banana peels on the way due to high number of students doing the programme as against the number such university is allowed to graduate! So, his not doing well at UNN doesn't mean he isn't intelligent enough to study medicine or any other course in another university!

Hahaha, I get your point but calm down, Engineering in UI is the weakest amongst its peers compared to OAU, UNN & ABU. In fact UNILAG is closer to the weakest but they started Engineering years before the UI.

This is what is happening with the so-called high JAMB top scorers: either they are already writing for others as a means of a machinery or for themselves when they are already in their third year. Celebrating a university student for scoring the highest in JAMB is a sign of a sick society. Anambra is a known home for special centers where buying and selling take place. If you serve in Anambra, you might have observed it. For those who are making a case for him, a time will come when a doctor (PhD) will want to switch fields and will rewrite JAMB and score 400, and mediocrities will troop to the street to celebrate.

Anambra is fully represented with regards to brilliant minds, P.N Okeke, Okadigbo, Achebe, Chimamanda, Dora Akuyili, Chike Obi of great mathematician and others, you can't run them down

Again, expulsion from any University irrespective of the action(s) is a serious red flag, that's why the Registrar is telling the Medical Council not to index him i.e. since his name will be flagged there as an expelled student for poor performance, it could limit his opportunities for either PG or foreign programmes so by taking his name off there, he is free as a bird.

I think he wants to study engineering now … so nothing concern am with medicine again

My MSc in Engineering was there but those were the best years of my education all my life. I will never forget the experience for life.
