These was how his problems added up

1. His father didn't finish up his son paper work after they returned to the US. The article didn't tell us why. But the father didn't apply for the son citizenship

2. Son didn't know he was not a citizen and started committing various crimes as a young adult.

3. By the time, he came out of jail and ICE arrested him, it was already too late as he had become inadmissible to citizenship because of his crime record.
