In the past when Landlords are renting out their houses, they don't care about your privacy as far as you will pay their money at when due but these days Landlords are so annoying and they start asking what you do for a living etc... Well, I can excuse that due to the fact that they don't want to give out their house to a criminal. But they go as far as give agents the following conditions to rent out their house; 1. I only need a male tenant, single and working class 2. I only need a female tenant, single & working class 3. I only need a newly married couple without kids 4. I only need a single male or female but the type that go out in the morning and come back in the evening. 5. I only need a married couple with children 6. I only need a corper. Haba, for goodness sake. 7. Some Landlords will tell you they don't care who wants to rent the house but he would lock his gate latest by 9. I've encountered that before and it wasn't funny throughout my stay in the house for 2 years. 8. Some Landlords will tell you they don't like you bringing in friends anyhow whether male or female. 9. Other landlords will say they don't want womanizers that would bring black girl in the morning, fair girl in the afternoon, fat girl in the evening. Etc. 10. Lastly, some Landlord would say they need 2years rent at once. They don't collect one year rent. 11. There was a house I stayed, the landlady told me that she collects one year light bill together with your yearly rent because she doesn't want to knock your door every month asking for your light bill. It was estimated billing then and she pays same amount every month because she has no dept of even one naira on her bill. Though it helped me somehow Sha. Please guys share your experiences.

1. You must pay agent fee even if you don't know any agent in connection with the apartment. 2. You must pay legal fee without any lawyer being involved in the agreement. And if you later have a case with the landlord, you have to get yourself a lawyer. 3. Certain items are specified for you to provide to entertain neighbours. But, what is the connection between the post and the type of picture attached to the post? |

FG should build Soviet style apartments And leash them out at 200k per year. That is how Europeans survive Go to Russia you will see thousands of commi blocks built for those that can't afford high rent. These are the things Peter Obi can achiev in 2 year of being a president |

I'm in support of this, as the owner of the house you have the right to decide the kind of people you want to live with in the same compound. Speaking for landlords that reside in the house. |

It's their house and their terms! So far as they don't appreciably infringe on tenant's rights to be litigable! |

I don't blame them for that 1&2. Some states are now demolishing any houses found to be harboring criminals which is a good move to curtail the excesses of some criminal elements in our society. No landlord will want his house demolished. |

Meektunz:Its not so annoying when you consider that government will often say that properties rented out to kidnappers, ritualist, drug dealers etc will be demolished. Also with the amount of default in payment of rent and messing up of properties by tenants, its not annoying at all. |

I'd rather sleep under a flyover than stay in a house where they landlord lives in the compound. Some landlords are in the occult. You pack in driving a venza and leave the house carrying a ghana must go bag on your head. |

Kalulu44:I hear you sir. But please as you no fit build, person build and says this is how I want you to treat my property, please try and treat it that way or do not move in. Do not agree to terms you cannot fulfill because you are desperate to land the property only to come online and start painting your landlord black. Hope you get the point ![]() |

Any landlord or agent that requests for 2 years should be reported...cos they are breaking the law...Nigerians should stop allowing their fellow citizens play them... requesting for 2 year rent is a crime ... even if u the tenant demands to pay 2 year rent or more ...the landlord must make sure u put it on writing that the tenant and not him made the request .... |

Why would they ask for drinking money and ridiculous agent fees and all those ridiculous things. Laws should be put in place and enforced to stop this madness |

Meektunz:When you become a landlord you will understand. The good thing is that you were told before paying. If you don't like the conditions. Wakka I put only single working class in my house. Not just single. Single Tennant as in 1 person to a room. You can have visitors but they can't overstay. 1 week is overstay The amount of power and water I person will utilize isn't the same for 3 persons. Some people are evil they will come alone to pay rent then after a month 3 people will be leaving in the single room. That's rubbish. The fact that you rented a room to someone doesn't mean you shouldn't have peace of mind. Some foolish irresponsible tenants would play loud music till daybreak in a rented apartment. SMH |

Some Landlords can be funny and weird at the same time. Some are outright wicked Souls. That's why you need to plan towards having a place of your own. Even if it is inside Igbo Irumole. Some Landlords? They are Devil incarnates! But some are Angel likes. |
