Meektunz:I am one of those who specify who and what they want, and I don't believe anything is wrong in that. My single room is strictly for coopers, while the flats are for a working-class single or married person and must have a car. (This is just to be at a safer place to be sure they're not yahoo or can pay the subsequent rents. We have a rule in our estate that nothing comes in or goes out past 11pm, and this has solved a lot of unfortunate scenarios in our estate. There's a fine and sanction for anyone who goes against the law. |

Pygmalionn:I once lived in a house in Osheri where the landlord demands a bottle of Baylis from every new occupant The man used to chase out every tenant after a year for new entrant.. That's his culture.. He doesn't want you to stay more than a year, and once you move in, he starts looking for your trouble, so as to frustrate you to the point of leaving when your rent is due. He had over 30 tenants When baba opened his bar in front of his house, baba brought out all the Baylis he has been collecting from tenants to stock his freezer.. Omo! the Baylis plenty gan.. In fact, go pass 50 ![]() |

Some of these landlords are very wicked. My own was living upstairs on top me and pounding everyday day from 9pm to 1am and wake up 4am to 6am to continue pounding. He doesn't own a restaurant or anything. And his children will never pound until that particular time comes. I begged and begged and this stupid man refused to stop. Worst, he continued pounding even when my wife gave birth and we brought our baby home. I almost punched him but me sef show am shege before i packed out of his house. |

BeginsAtHome:Honestly I still don't get you. Will everybody be rich no. Will everybody be poor no. Will everybody be a landlord no. I only reply you that not everyone will be a landlord in this life and that's all. Nothing concerns me with what the op said cus just as you said it's their property and have the right to give you condition. |

Yeah that's how I rented a house from this guy. Agent didn't tell me he lived on the premises till after I had paid. When I got introduced to the guy that night I moved in I knew I was in deep trouble. He had effeminate ways and looked like a drug addict. He didn't look like the type to own a house. Come to find out later that his dad is very rich and that house is his own inheritance from the dad. House cost about 400 million naira. Anyway so this guy is on all kinds of drugs and will be screaming all night till morning as if demons are chasing him. He will be using his car door to scratch my car after he smokes his drugs. I mean he didn't give any rules but it just looked like I am in a dangerous situation here. Thank God I came out of that situation. When I moved into that guys house my car was real nice looking. After I left that guys house my car looked like it had been in a war zone. This fool be speeding into a tiny space after using drugs. Werey |

Meektunz:No. 1 is for Landlord that feels a single working class guy will be able to pay their rent because of little responsibilities For number 3, some landlord don't hike their fee especially if there is no agent. They have fulfillment in helping young couples start life. Makes them happy especially they old type of landlord, some will even be understanding if you are little short on payment Number 6 is for landlord that are always suspicious, so incase the tenant is a bad egg. They only have 1 year to put up with him or her + they will tell the corper before hand that he or she can't stay pass a year, they might even say, they want to use the house after a year. For number 10, you can't blame them, they need money and the situation of this country is tough. A landlord that earns like 70k in this economy and has kids in Tertiary institution, will surely ask for 2 yrs rent upfront, even if you can pay more, won't mind. |

2016, I wanted to rent a flat in Durumi and the agent/lawyer managing the property said the landlord did not want Igbos. I was desperate for the flat and so I told him I was Ghanaian and told him my last name was Mensah. Lived there for 4 years with the landlord in the same compound and proved him wrong. His grouse was with an igbo tenant upstairs who overstayed while waiting for his house to be completed and so he didnt want any other. At the end of my tenancy, I told him I wasnt Ghanaian and that I hope he would have a different opinion about us. |

Meektunz:Finally someone has called out this nonsense Some lunatics among them actually are quite specific about tribe The only reason any dispute should occur between a landlord and a tenant should be default in rent payment or damages Nothing more |

My pops rented out his house to students, nobody can sleep there because of cult related activities,, so yes, Landlord reserves the right to rent out his property to whomever they like afterall not everyone can borrow my car, why not my house you will only be angry if you have never leased or rented out a property before |

When you build your own house, you will let it out without asking questions. At the end na you go complain when the tenants begin to misbehave. Misbehave here I mean like keeping very late nights everyday and even bringing criminals to the compound or turning it into short let and short time. ![]() Landlords puts conditions that suits their situation and past experience. That's why it's better not to live in a compound where landlord stays because there will be conflict most times. |
