https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1Ao1e1wWwN/ Can we talk about the trend among many Nigerian bloggers, where they label almost every African involved in any altercation or crime as Nigerian? But when you do some research, you often find out the person is actually from another African country. They do this just for views, but isn't that damaging the already fragile reputation of the country even more? Nowadays, any time there's a crime-related event, you see people in the comments automatically referencing Nigeria because of a ridiculous video they saw. Can't the government do something about this? It's becoming really crazy.. Even in the Trump vs. Liberian President saga, one blogger twisted the narrative and claimed that Trump said the man spoke better English than Tinubu. Ridiculously, the post has about 20k likes already, and almost everyone in the comment section believed the blogger and even applauded Trump for something that never happened—simply because of their hatred for Tinubu.

You are right... And Nigerians themselves are partly to blame for this. They are sometimes the ones that make these remarks and trash talk their country and country men to the outside world. If you don't have respect for yourself how can others respect you? They forget that the international community watch and see these things online and so take a clue from there. I have been with many foreign nationals one thing I observe is they will never talk down on country, people or their government to you as a foreigner no matter how bad the situation. Nigerians on the other hand look for every slight situation to bad mouth and trash their own to foreigners. Nigerians are the cause of their problems and then they come back to complain when it back fires! |

brain54:It is deeply troubling ,many individuals seem unaware of the serious harm they are inflicting on the country’s reputation. |

Change begins with seeing and accepting faults from oneself The culture of pretending to the outside of our bad state, character and values as a nation is over Hard truth to bare! They either do something about it or consumes everybody not just the citizens! Sccarrr: |

kmst:I understand everything you said perfectly, and you're right, but it seems you’re missing the point of this discussion. We're talking about cases where crimes committed by other Africans are falsely attributed to Nigerians, just to generate traffic or engagement. Is that an example of dragging oneself through the mud to appear bad, or is it simply selfishness and wickedness driven by the desire to make money? |

Sccarrr:Hit the nail on the head! All these are done by one ethnic group, the Igbo, don't you see the names, they destroyed the reputation of the country in the name of fighting Tinubu and Buhari but I discovered they always suffer the aftermath effect of their actions. |

We've even seen cases of some Nigerians set free and declared innocent of crimes committed by others in countries like India...but long before then, folks iamfraud and salewa97 have already condemned them and spread news everyway simply cos of hatred and tribe |

When someone rigs elections and steal mandates openly and without recourse then it's only normal for the citizens to hate and abhor such a country or system that made such happen and become a norm ![]() |
