Mynd44:Then Oceanic Bank should not be part of the list. Because it was merged with EcoBank as well. Same way Access merged with Diamond. |

alizma: EKOMADENG:Access Bank acquired Intercontinental. It was never shut down. alizma:The article is quite misleading. |

Mynd44:Did Oceanic Bank shut down too or it got acquired by Ecobank? If you can answer that question correctly, then you will understand that Oceanic Bank should not be on this list. |

Bittersweetnig:💯, I have replied him too. Oceanic Bank was sold and merged with EcoBank. |

Wallade:The woman Cecilia Ibru the then CEO of the bank was hailed as one of the most power figure in the financial sector. When she was later convicted of fraud, her fame also ended up affecting the bank negatively, and the bank never recovered from it. |

Intercontinental Bank and Bank PHB were my favourites then. Like, how can you not love Bank PHB? Their marketing strategy, branding/advertising and customer policy was something else entirely. I haven't stopped wondering why Ecobank absorbed Oceanic rather than the other way around. Oceanic had better branding and customer appeal. Btw, Sanusi should be given his flowers. Man really brought order to the banking sector that year, even though all the gains of those years have currently been eroded. |

Ijaya123:If that is the case, the oceanic bank, PHB and spring bank should not be on the list because they fade away through acquisition, just like intercontinental bank. PHB acquired spring bank in 2008, then key stone bank acquired PHB in 2011, that same 2011, Eco bank acquired Oceanic bank while in 2012 access bank acquired intercontinental bank. |

Standard Trust Bank was students favorite bank back in those days. I remember the massive queue back in those days at Owerri during my university days just to withdraw money. They merged with UBA and maintained their logo |
