The truth is they will show you a working phone and change it to fufu when handing you the "phone"

I dey visit this market back to back, especially, Computer Village, Alaba, Mushin and all markets in Lagos.
I have never been scammed for once.

Setting your priority right will help you escape this guys.
1. What are you planning to buy....then which market sells it.
2. You have no business with all those street guys....enter legit shops. ( sometimes, I buy corn from corn seller to get the opportunity to ask for a right direction)
3. Don't be carried away with cheap prices

He counted the money while I inserted my sim, the next moment he said he is not selling again...

Na so we dey drag am till I realised this guy wanted to scam us. We were still in the car dragging while the phone was still in hand. I told my friend to start the car and let's be going with the seller inside the car because he was starting to call his guys to come and beat us.

While I was dragging with him in the car because I refused to collect the money back from him, my guy started the car and drove off towards Allen going to Alausa.


We fought in the car and he was dragging the steering while my friend was driving. The people outside were wondering why are these people fighting in a moving car.

Long story short, after threat from both parties, the scammer later started begging to pls let him go because we are already heading towards 3rd mainland bridge.

We already threatened him that we are taking him to ikoyi prison. My friend had to tell me that we should forgive him and collect the money back. I collected my money back from him and I made sure I counted it and there was no papers in-between. I gave him his phone and we dropped him on the express way going towards 3rd mainland bridge. He was crying seriously before let him off and I made sure I injured him. This guy was well built than us but thank God we were smarter. Our saving grace was that we quickly drove out of his environment because his boys were already stationed


I had to tell my friend to pls let's go back to computer village. We turned and drove back and I jejely bought the phone from a store

THE NEXT DAY MY FRIEND CALLED ME AND SENT ME PICTURE OF WHAT HE SAW UNDERNEATH HIS CAR SEAT. PAPERS CUT IN SIZE OF MONEY AND THEY LOOKED LIKE 500 AND 1000 NAIRA NOTES

I encountered that but returned with a brutal revenge.

This is my story. I was working at Independent Newspaper back then in Ikeja close to WAMCO PLC, it was the year 2005. I was working as an agent distributing to the Mile 2 - Okoko axis.
Month end my salary and commission was paid. I first took a bus that took me to Awolowo road close to Computer village.
I had to trek from the underbridge to the express that linked Oshodi.
Walking towards the express was computer village by my left hand side. I decided to go check a phone cus I was using Motorola C15 phone then.

I have been fascinated by seeing people using camera and video phone and I wanted to get it so badly.
I had #11.5k with me and decided to try my luck. Immediately I entered and strolled inside, a guy accosted me asking me if I want to buy a phone and I reply in the affirmative.
He told me he's a student and needed to go back to school but no money with him and he wants to sell his phone. He brought out a Sunny Ericsson phone like that and showed me everything was working. I saw the camera, watched one of Sean Paul musical video and I told hmm like it.

I asked for the price and he said 30k, I exclaimed and told him I don't have such amount and wanted to walk away but he walked to me and said how much do I want to pay, that he's really broke and needed the money.
I told him I will pay 7k and he shouted that it's too small. I told him deal or no deal and he begged I should add something. I told him I can only add #500 to it. After much pretending to be thinking about it he agreed. I told him to give me the phone let me give him the money.
He said no o, that we can't do it in the open that we should do it at a corner that if does bad boys see us they'll come and hijack it from me. I agreed and he pointed at a corner to me, saying I should lead the way to the corner, not knowing inside the bag he was carrying was a replica Sunny Ericsson phone stucked with fufu.

So while at my back he had already brought out another one fully packaged with fufu inside a carton. When we got to the corner I gave him the money and he gave me the packaged phone. As I was about opening it he shouted that I shouldn't that some people are watching us and may collect it from me. That I should run thru a gate he pointed to me (the actual gate I came in thru) and he took off thru another gate.
With fear and panic I hid the phone under my armpits and ran towards the gate. The guys at the gate almost people like him stopped me in my tracks and question me why am I running. I told them nothing o, and some said it seems as if I have stolen something that's why I'm running.
I quickly answered and said no o, I just bought this phone (pointing at my back to see if I will still see the scammer) they seized the phone from me and opened the top carton. Just simultaneously all over them exclaimed "Oti ra Fufu) meaning I have bought fufu instead of phone. I was shocked to hear that and I collected the phone back from them which they allowed me and I opened it myself. Lo and behold everything was nicely packed by fufu u with nylon covering it so you can hear the smell.
Omoh, na their wailing, lamenting and crying began o. When it was too much for them to bear they drove me out of the premises and said it serves me right for being greedy. That I wanted to buy a phone worth more than 20k for 7k. Honestly guys as at then I didn't know actual price of the phone and sensed the guy desperation to haggle for that.
I cried till I got home that day. My mother was consoling me but my immediate brother who's now a pastor was trying to blame me for not being street wise even though I have canvassed the whole Lagos more than him. He later apologize and told me to leave it for God.

I GOT MY REVENGE BUT TO ANOTHER VICTIM.

I schooled at Ojo High School which is not far from Ojo Army Barracks, I finished my secondary schooling in the year 1999 and most of my classmates has joined the Army either thru their fathers connection or voluntarily.
So I happened to still have contact with almost 4 of them. So I relay what happened to one of them who was very closed to me and he promised to deal with them and get me back both money and phone. But he said I should give 2 weeks when he's off duty and on leave.
I agreed and left.

So the appointed day arrived and he took along with him two hardened face guys. Before we got to computer village we have already perfected our plans. They're to go with me on mufti but wearing their vest or polo inside with a well covered shirt on top.
With me was 10k to negotiate with another phone. Two of the soldiers went ahead before us close to the road leading to the other gate, while my guy stood at the entrance gate and I walked in casually. A guy approached me like the two weeks ago guy and wanted to play the same script. Immediately we exchanged money and phone he wanted to run out from the corner, one of the soldiers who already has opened the button of his disguised shirt with camouflage vividy now open stopped him in his track and demanded why he was running, he was stammering while I majestically walked out from the corner and gave him dirty slap. I opened the phone in his presence and this time it was well packaged cut to size Dettol soap.
The soldiers brushed him off his feet and he fell down, as onlooker wanted to cause a scene the other two two soldiers stepped in and dispersed them. Telling them if anyone should try as much as possible tries to intervene will also be dealt with.
After some torturing he confessed to his deed and the soldiers collected everything from him including his small bag where other phones of two pairs were lace with fufu and the other good one. It was 6 in total, one good one one bad one. And also collected all the money with him. They first of all gave me my immediate 10k. With him was still about 20k plus. They collected that too from him, asked me how much they duped me two weeks ago. I told them and they counted 7k out of the money they got from him, told me to choose the phone of my choice from the three. I collected Motorola flip up which very slim that they called Blade. They left him on the phone bruised while we walked away.
Mehn! Me not fit happy o.
I got home and told my family what happened and how I recovered everything back. My mum and brother been a churchie told me while what I did was wrong. I didn't answer them o.

P.S: Sorry to add this cus he's my brother. Some several years later when my brother was now pastoring a church of his own. He got into the MMM scam after convincing over half of his members to invest in the scheme. When MMM folded up, he was in debt to the tune of 250k. He almost committed suicide cus the pressure was much from his church members who stopped coming to his church.
He was hospitalized after shouting and crying every night with a sore throat that almost claimed his life. I didn't remind him of what he said to me when I was scammed. I and mum and family members put every resources together to bring him back to life and helped in settling most of the bills which the AGC also helped in offsetting. Till today, me and him haven't discussed anything concerning the scam. I don't want to bring back ugly memories to him.
So this is my story about this phone scammers in Lagos. Since then I haven't been scammed of anything ever again.
