Fubara Was Suspended, Not Removed” - A Baseless And Misguided Argument. by Bobloco(op): 6:20am On Jul 12, 2025
To Tinubu supporters , Agbadoos pushing this weak narrative: there is no constitutional provision for “suspending” a sitting governor.

None.

A governor can only resign, Be impeached via Section 188 Or finish his term

“Suspend” doesn’t exist in our laws. It’s a political fairy tale.

Jonathan declared a state of emergency during the height of Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa yet didn’t remove any governor.

But Tinubu used emergency powers in Rivers over a political fight with his own minister, Wike and now you say Fubara was just “suspended”?

Wike is the one causing chaos, yet he remains in FEC. Fubara resists, and suddenly he's the problem?

This is not leadership. It’s abuse of power and some of you are defending it just because it's Tinubu in power.

Enough with the lies. Respect the Constitution. Nigeria isn’t a political empire.

It’s funny how moving on means ignoring injustice just because it didn’t happen in your region. Some of us believe in standing up for what's right, no matter the region. You should try it sometimes

Fubara has move on, he's even thanking the president for interfering and telling his supporters to sheath their sword.

You're not Fubara, you're not related to him, you're not an Ijaw man, you're not from Rivers state, you're not from the south south, but you're the one feeling pains

You, on the other hand, aren't related to Fubara, you're not from Rivers State or the South-South, yet here you are, foaming at the mouth defending Tinubu’s unconstitutional actions in Rivers like your survival depends on it.
If Fubara has 'moved on' out of political necessity, that doesn’t mean the rest of us should pretend injustice never happened.

Where someone is from doesn’t matter, bad governance affects all Nigerians.
So if my outrage bothers you, maybe it's because deep down, you know I’m right and that must really hurt.

Your attempt to reduce a serious democratic breach to tribal affiliation is both disingenuous and dangerous. Injustice does not require personal ties, ethnic alignment, or regional identity to be condemned. One doesn’t need to be Ijaw, from Rivers, or related to Fubara to recognize the illegality of dismantling democratically elected institutions.

“Moving on” does not erase the fact that Tinubu presided over an unconstitutional act that harmed the people of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole. Actions have consequences and history has a way of revisiting those who support illegality, often when they least expect it.

There is a section in our constitution that talk about State of emergency in any state of the federation and the president is covered with that section.
Are you saying you prefer the state House of Assembly to remove Fubara permanently through impeachment?
Fubara is not even complaining like the way many of you his defendants are all over the social media space complaining.

Citing the Constitution without understanding its context is misleading. A state of emergency is not a political tool to dismantle democratic institutions, it must be based on a real breakdown of law and order, approved by the National Assembly, and proportionate in response.

When President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa at the height of Boko Haram insurgency, he did not remove elected governors or suspend state assemblies. That was during an actual war. In contrast, what’s happening in Rivers State is a political feud, not a security crisis.

Yet, Fubara is being illegally suspended from office under the guise of "emergency," while Wike, the instigator of the crisis, continues to sit comfortably in the Federal Executive Council as a minister. If you can’t see the imbalance and illegality in that, then you’re not defending democracy, you’re enabling impunity.

Fubara's silence may be strategic, but the rest of us won't be quiet while the Constitution is torn to shreds for political convenience.
