On Friday, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, officially unveiled Dr. George Moghalu as the party’s standard-bearer for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The campaign flag-off event, held in Onitsha, also served as a platform for Obi to restate his ambition to run for president in 2027. He expressed confidence in his qualifications and vision, positioning himself as the most credible among current presidential hopefuls.

Obi also addressed rumors suggesting he had left the Labour Party to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), clarifying that their alliance with ADC is strictly for strategic collaboration ahead of the 2027 general election.

“I remain a Labour Party member, as are all our members at both state and national levels. We are here today for this symbolic flag-off of the campaign for our LP flagbearer, Dr. George Moghalu,” he affirmed.

In his remarks, Obi strongly endorsed the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, noting that her selection reflects LP’s commitment to family-centered leadership and gender inclusion.

“She is not only popular but organized,” he added. “We believe her presence will further enhance our commitment to caring for families.”

Dr. Moghalu, while addressing supporters, pledged to lead with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility.

“If we begin to list everything we plan to do, we’ll sleep here,” he said. “But I can assure you that my deputy and I will serve Anambra with dedication and integrity. Children will return to school, roads will be built, agriculture will thrive, and we will not disappoint.”

He also vowed to implement a humane tax policy, assuring citizens that his government would not exploit them.

“People will pay taxes, but not with pestles,” Moghalu quipped. “We will not oppress our people. Every promise we’ve made will be fulfilled.”

Senators Victor Umeh (Anambra Central) and Tony Nwonye (Anambra North) also pledged their full support for Moghalu’s candidacy, expressing optimism that Labour Party would emerge victorious at the polls.

With the campaign now officially underway, political observers are watching closely to see whether Obi’s popularity and Moghalu’s pledges will resonate with voters and lead the LP to victory in Anambra’s 2025 gubernatorial race.

This same George Moughalu is APC in flesh and blood o. He decamped from APC and he’s the surest way to take Anambra state to APC, if he wins. He’s using Obi’s image to campaign. Unfortunately he will be defeated by Soludo.

Do you recall hoebee has an elupee lacuna from 2023 elections about his time of registration as the party member and the inability to quash the leadership imbroglio of elupee thereby giving them two factions?
He should learn from Tulumbu here by being a firm leader that can quash diss-affection, moles and intruder in elupee thereby making his candidacy there legitimate.

There is an ADC candidate. Maybe you are not able to read and understand, otherwise you’ll find that Obi has maintained that he’s a Labour Party member and by rule he will support his party.
