This is a game plan to change the current INEC chairman, maybe the man has decided to do the right thing come 2027 and Tinubu does not want that

A tool GEJ foolishly failed to utilise and capitalise upon; which was one of the things that led to his dethrownment. I doubt if Tinubu is that naive. Such a move won't fly under this regime
are you trying to say that with transparent free and fair system, your political master strategist can never win an electionhuh??

Fix the judiciary, INEC will fall into place.
This is not rocket science.
Re: Reps Move To Strip President Of Power To Appoint INEC Chair by dederocs(m): 5:57am On Jul 13, 2025
Of course, even a kid knows a president should not be appointing INEC chairman, attorney general and IG.

This democracy must make sense...if a president appoints, they will be loyal to him, instead of the nation and citizens. We must use common sense.

They are all wasting their time.

Everybody who support evil or allowed it will be affected in the end.

That’s why I don’t waste my time on the rats who support everything APC has been doing. Imagine you are in your 70s and need operation but doctors are on strike because of government negligence.

Yeah, let everybody continue their to focus on the 30k per month because they are still young thinking it wouldn’t affect them in anyway 😂
Re: Reps Move To Strip President Of Power To Appoint INEC Chair by Juliearth(f): 5:58am On Jul 13, 2025
Way to go! However, we all know that won't happen. Stripping the president of that power and granting the electoral head that autonomy would be detrimental to the president's re-rigging plans for 2027.

Lol who get that mind na him people still dey head rep I talk am say tinubu no feel leave yakubu there he go put a southern person there anything make am mistakenly leave yakubu there he is a gonner.

2015 Apc was so confident of winning even before the primaries, when buhari gives tinubu the privilege of picking a vice for him tinubu offer himself instead as vice but buhari and d cabals rejected it. cause ( tinubu) knows the inec chairman has already assured them of winning he just can't wait to be in power then. When rufai has the confidence of boosting the president is already out an agreement with yakubu and the northern elders are already in place. You see that peter obi he will gladly be Atiku vice when El - rufai communicate the information to him.
Infact obi will not even form an alliance with ADC if something has not been whisper to his ears he just want to contest the ADc presidential primaries let it not be in the eyes of Nigerians and obedients he didn't make an attempt to be number one before accepting number 2 position. Obi himself kw that he stand no chance with Atiku when it comes to winning presidential primaries Atiku is far too experience in that game than himself all what obi is just doing now is just eyes service to his supporters
You really understand this game. Nor be all tbose people wey dey talj out of sentiment. cool

If that bill passes the national assembly, Tinubu doesn't have a choice. The bigger questions here are the sincerity of legislative to take that power off the president and give it to NJC. Will that be done before 2026 so that Mahmood can get out and a new INEC chairman will come in through the process? No matter what anyone thinks, this change is better than what we have now.
Re: Reps Move To Strip President Of Power To Appoint INEC Chair by Lanruze: 6:16am On Jul 13, 2025
The would be the single biggest achievement of the National Assembly in the Post '99 democratic era.

This move should be highly encouraged by all 200m Nigerians and we should ensure the end-to-end implementation.

Once this is achieved the root cause of the trust deficit and voter apathy would have been dealt with frontally.

Let the people breath !

Until that man " Inec Chairman" announces you as the winner no one can be president. So they need to make his bank accounts local and domiciliary, wives and relatives bank accounts, crypto accounts, communication, travels, movements. Fully monitored by NJC and EFCC 3 months before an election and up to 1 month after.

Having the CJ appointing INEC chairman doesn't mean accusations of bias by politicians who lose elections will stop, our politicians are desperate that when they clearly lose election they'll still blame inec. Even if we choose Jesus as head of INEC, they will still go to court to challenge election results. Politicians will never play a fair game. It's when public office is devoid of corruption that we will have election results acceptable to all. In the last presidential election, the first and second runners up challenged the election result with both claiming victory against the declared winner, if the second and third placed candidates are both claiming victory over the declared winner, then something is really wrong with our politicians, they hardly concede defeat. They all are desperados desperate for lucre of office

Good move. However, even if the bill comes to fruition, being insatiable as we are as Nigerians, we will still complain.

This definitely cannot happen particularly in a situation where we are having the current spate of defection from the opposition to the ruling party. When the ruling party has already had the overwhelming majority, every political permutation falls within its domain and therefore, the bill in question is dead on arrival

Meanwhile, Abuja-based constitutional lawyer, Abdul Mahmud, is not impressed with the legislative intervention.

He said, “This proposal raises serious red flags and invites critical scrutiny, both in terms of principle and practice.

“The NJC is supposed to safeguard the independence and integrity of the judiciary. Yet, its own credibility is contested: members are unelected, largely composed of senior judicial officers, many of whom are insiders to a system that has drawn public distrust.

“Some of these members have been directly involved in controversial, even ‘perfidious,’ Supreme Court decisions, especially in political cases.

“The fact that Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has retired and Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, reportedly denied visas to the US, now chairs the NJC, compounds concern about both domestic and international confidence in our country’s judicial integrity.

I want to ask is there anything like judiciary in Nigeria, the Yoruba so called judges had done their perfidiousness with the jokediciary.

INEC needs genuine independence, merit-based leadership selection, and financial autonomy through self-generated revenue or a direct federal budget allocation to ensure free and fair elections.
