Journalism is meant to serve the public by presenting facts objectively and holding those in power accountable—regardless of who they are. When a journalist consistently echoes government positions without scrutiny or balance, it stops being journalism and starts resembling propaganda. A free and independent press is essential in any democracy. It's concerning when media voices seem more loyal to authority than to the truth or the people they are meant to inform. |

Very long story. In summary US were working to strengthen the visa and also for security reasons. Shettima should be careful of how he talks in public even though he is a straight forward person |

You doubt how president Tinubu would cancel the five years visa agreement with the US, which made the US reciprocate. You will also doubt that Tinubu unilaterally removed subsidy on fuel and floated the Naira in open markets immediately after getting to Aso Rock - no minister, no adviser, no preliminary studies on the possible impact of his actions on the masses. |

There’s rumor that Vice President Kashim Shettima will be replaced in the 2027 elections and there’s also the issue of Governor Fubara’s suspension. Both circumstances gave life to the interpretation the public gave to his speech. If you, the writer, is not even thinking in the same way why are you advising the Vice President to be careful of what he says? Kashim Shettima is a highly educated and smart human being. If you think he didn’t know the consequences of that speech he made then you know little of the man. |

For the life of me, I will never understand why some people feel they have hit a jackpot anytime there is negative news about Nigeria. Their joy knows no bounds. If it is good news, they become depressed and broken-heart. When fake news aligns with your prejudices and biases, you are unlikely to crosscheck the facts or be circumspect. Instead, you will, excitedly, start forwarding it to your WhatsApp groups in search of wild, uninformed and cynical commentary. This section refers to the emergency lovers of Nigeria who believe that in a democracy their own preferred candidate must be the mandatory candidate of everyone else. |

Morbeta11:The part where the fool said "if American government reciprocate, they might receive 200million Nigerians as visitors to their country. The least U can pay for return ticket to USA is 1.5million naira. When did we have more than 200million Nigerian millionaires? |

Mr or Mrs Morbeta the journalist, could you please write another post on the arrest of Kaboru Sokoto in the Abuja lodge of the current vice president and what that kind of discovery means for a nation. |

Na person wey no get Americans coming to Nigeria these people will dribble. Thank God Ghana has written a detailed report saying they give 1year, 2 years, 3years, and 5years, single and multiple entries. Whereas the US has a static price and it's 5 years straight with multiple entries. Who are these people deceiving? Lol. The prices of the categories they give, why cant they publish it out and let us compare the prices and stress involved between the two nations. Africans think they are smart, they don't play fairness in agreement. It is why Trump said equality and fairness. The US can also decide to habe different types validities and entries, but they don't want. They believe having a unified prices throughout their embassies in the world is true equality plus fairness. But not Naija and Ghana. As soon as they signed the agreements, they had to return to the table with their lawyer to see loopholes they can use to get more legally without being penalised. Sure, the US doesn't want tongo through the long story approach, and therefore, decided to use superiority approach to prove their points. Tunji-Ojo has been served the details of what Nigeria needs to correct to move the whole agreement to being fair and equal, but they aren't going to make it public. What about data access? Many things. So, these writers should understand that we are not all gullible. Lol. |

jamafa:Sure. There is a clear difference, but the president doesn't even have the right to suspend or even remove the elected governor. When a state of emergency is declared, it only takes away the executive power from the elected governor, not taking away his position, as Tinubu did to Fubara. This is exactly what Jonathan did during his tenure. Now, Ibas is even instituting his own institution. It is constitutionally wrong. |

jamafa:You may be too young to know the history of Nigeria. No president has ever REMOVED a sitting governor. During Obasanjo’s time he declared state of emergency in several states and suspended their governors. At the time, he was called out for his unconstitutional actions. The governors ever REMOVED were done so by their own State Houses of Assembly. You can say Obasanjo had a hand in their removal but it was constitutionally done. During Jonathan’s time, state of emergency was declared in Borno and Yobe states but their governors were left in office unlike Obasanjo’s time and that was what Shettima was referring to. So don’t get it distorted. Fubara’s suspension was unconstitutional and that was what people interpreted Shettima’s statements to mean. |

In your writeup, you said and I quote: The new e-visa is single entry and valid for 90 days. Regardless of the new US visa policy, does the e-visa allow for multiple entries besides the 90-day single entry you mentioned above? If No, how does Americans obtain multiple entry visa if the old manual system is no longer available? These questions remain to be answered before you can say Nigeria did not introduce a 90-day single entry policy. Whether e-visa or manual visa, how does foreigners including Americans obtain multiple entry Njgerian visas? If we don't issue multiple entry visa to visitors coming to Nigeria, how do we expect a different treatment from other countries? |
