The anime will break his own record this time

I said SMURFS will be making $500M
Okay.
SMURFS isn't smelling anything $400mn sef talkless of 500mn. 😂😂😂

The marketing for that film is literally dead. I hardly hear anything about that project despite sleeping on film Twitter for months.

For a movie coming out in theatres on July 18 it is awfully QUIET.
That film would be lucky to even cross $250mn in my estimates.

I've been having a home run this year. So take my word seriously. grin grin

As for the anime I doubt it's breaking that record. It's home market is very weak for movies presently, so I doubt international sales will do much help for a franchise so heavily dependent on Japanese grosses.

with good marketing.
The way we underestimate what the right marketing can do especially in Hollywood

Baddestguyp:
Milly Alcock is well loved and seen as a fast rising star. Jason Momoa is a household name and both can sell this movie

But with due respect, catering to the Barbie fanbase will do this movie more harm than good imo...

It is the male audience rather than the female audience who mostly sell Superhero movies. Even the "girl-power" superhero movies still rely on mostly the male audience.

Barbie was a success because it was a different type of movie made specifically to cater to younger women and appealed to them and even at that, the male audience supported it greatly...hence the Barbieheimer

But when it comes to Superhero movies, 90% of the audience will likely be male and not female.

A "Barbie" type of Superhero movie will flop imo because the male audience will be turned off and the female superhero fanbase barely exist and won't turn up...
Hence why he said with good marketing. If it's anything the Justin Baldoni vs Blake lively ongoing legal battle have thought anyone, it's how the marketing of a movie can destroy a project and the actors careers in the process and Hollywood is taking notes. Blake thought she could market a movie with a serious subject to a vastly female audience the same way her hubby marketed Deadpool v wolverine, a not so serious movie to a male audience and now it's biting her in the ass

My guy with the subtle shade. Baba was a somebody ooooo, you just weren't familiar with him, I've known him when he starred in some of Ryan Murphy's projects, he was rough around the edges then (his acting was not so good as a lead especially in Hollywood) but looks like he's taken some lessons, glad he's getting his big break....... wasn't he also in x?

I call it how I see it, man. If something leans too hard into agenda over story, I’ll say it. If it doesn’t, I’m not gonna force it just to feel part of the pack. That’s the difference: I’m not team-following, I’m just watching movies.
It's a universal truth that all movies have an agenda that comes from either a collective which is the studio or from the director, some more subtle than others but an agenda non the less, they just happen to be either agendas you agree with or not

Did you even read what I said?? 🤔

I've been talking about the "Marketing" to female fans. The movie also fits their demography of women wanting female Superheroines and stories to look up to.

BARBIE movie itself isn't even an unserious movie to turn off the male audience despite being a female geared movie, so why do you think SUPERGIRL can't do the same.

Even you yourself didn't believe in the movie or understood what it stood for before its release and you were the number one h@ter here for that movie.

It's actually funny you think I don't know the audience of female Superhero movies when I read comics myself and knee-deep in the genre. It's funny coming from you in particular. grin grin

I guess you don't know what comic the movie is being adapted from. SUPERGIRL: Woman of Tomorrow is easily the best Supergirl story EVER. And well liked and rated by comic fans — yeah the male audience you know so much about.

I guess you don't know why males flocked to the BARBIE movie as well. Margot Robbie I believe has more male fans than female fans in my opinion. Similarly as Greta Gerwig. So it's no surprise men even dressed up and prepped for that movie.
If I had the time and free cash then to see that movie.... I would have bought the whole merchandise and dressed up in PINK on opening day. 😂😂

I don't think you know what Prime marketing means. Harley Quinn easily outsells merchandise way more than Superman sef as a DC character.

Lol, how many ppl know David Corenswet.
He's largely an unknown actor or underground actor at best.
In fact, even Lois Lane actress, Rachel Brosnahan is a far more popular actor than Corenswet. grin grin
Which popular movie or TV show him don lead?? Or lead supporting actor? grin grin

I don't even need to call Nicholas Hoult cos he wipes the floor with him.

You are right though, out of the two Netflix shows I mentioned that was created during Murphy's 9 figure deal with netflix, one was a miniseries and the other was cancelled after a season or two so he obviously didn't have the time to flesh out his image

Now I remember, he was in Pearl, the sequel to X

Yeah.... James Gunn said he saw him in Pearl and thought we would be great as Superman.

He was also in an Apple TV series last year— Lady in the Lake.

"into agenda you don't agree with or like"
It’s not about “agenda I don’t like.” That’s the lazy take people default to when they can’t separate personal bias from actual critique. If a story stops being a story and turns into a checklist of messaging bullet points, that’s just bad writing—whether I agree with it or not. I’m not here for lectures disguised as entertainment. I’m here for movies that respect the audience’s brain, not treat them like toddlers needing a worldview spoon-fed to them

Sure, every movie reflects something—whether it’s the director’s worldview, the studio’s marketing angle, whatever. That’s normal. But there’s a difference between having a point of view and letting that point of view completely swallow the craft. When the story exists just to push a message instead of the message serving the story? That’s when it stops being art and starts feeling like a PowerPoint presentation with CGI

I was the number 1 hater of Barbie?
Do you have any proof of the above or it's just baseless claims as usual?

You ignored my entire point and went on a rant that conveniently ignored everything I said.

My statement is clear. I do not believe that marketing Supergirl to the Barbie crowd would work. Because Supergirl is a superhero movie and the superhero genre is male audience dominated.

I don't think even advertising it as a "Barbie-esqe" movie will bring in the "Barbie Female" audience. It would still be a superhero movie to them.

Dismissing every point I made with a simple term of "marketing will fix it" is lazy. Same as ignoring it and going on a long rant...

Of course everything I typed is my opinion. I may be wrong and I stand to be corrected.

Art being flexible and subjective already rendered your point moot, it can't be defined in a vacuum. There are movies that are created for the sole purpose of the visuals with little or no plot at all, they were just made to make people marvel at their cinematography, that's art to me, at the end of the day, it can't be restricted to follow a set of rules. There are movies that are made with agendas that overpower the story but because you relate to it, it's not seen as an "agenda" to you

My guy, that’s some toddler-level political analysis. “If you’re not rich and you voted Trump, you must be MAGA”? That’s how people who get their worldview from TikTok comment sections think. Reality is: most of us aren’t team blue or team red. Over half the country’s made up of independents and people who don’t trust either party. But sure, keep shouting MAGA like it’s the only vocabulary word you know.

I get that—art’s subjective, no argument there. But “subjective” doesn’t mean immune to critique. If a movie sacrifices basic storytelling for the sake of pushing an agenda—whether I agree with it or not—that’s still fair game to call out. And let’s not act like everyone suddenly loves plotless movies; most people aren’t lining up for vibes-only movies. You say it’s art when it hits your bias; cool, but don’t expect everyone else to swallow it without an opinion. Me making an opinion of a movie doesn't put me in a box

That’s cute—acting like I’m out here reading from some right-wing script just because you only notice when I mention woke stuff. I’ve complained about movies dragging for no reason, unnecessary sex scenes, lazy writing, forced nostalgia bait, bloated runtimes—basically all the usual things actual movie fans talk about. But sure, keep telling yourself it’s just “woke agenda” critiques so you can fit me into whatever little box your brain can handle. Must be exhausting thinking everything’s that one-dimensional.
