I used Grey to receive money for a documentary project that I am currently promoting but they returned the money to the sender, saying I didn't provide a PDF receipt of the payment. But the money is a donation from someone I don't even know.

The company is too primitive as far as I am concerned. Any idea of other FINTECH that doesn't require such receipt?
Do you mean invoice?
Others would always ask for something similar. It is to ensure the money was for a legal service rendered. So if you actually helped promote a documentary, then it is not a mere donation. It is payment for your service.

You got me wrong.

They needed a receipt of the payment, not invoice as I didn't sell anything.

Check my signature, you'll understand. I am trying to raise money to produce a documentary for my book. So, I posted a Grey account on my blog for readers to support me and someone sent money into the account anonymously.

When I expected to receive the money, I instead got a message from Grey to provide a receipt from the sender but which I couldn't because I don't know the sender. Two days later, they wrote that they've returned the money to the sender.

Yes, I use Grey to receive payment regularly from Amazon and other sources for my ebook earnings. I never knew it was a different ball game when using it to receive payment from an individual.

Note that I removed the Grey account from my blog. I replaced it with a local one, unfortunately our people don't understand the issues we face and what I am working on, so they don't donate. But African-Americans do donate because they are culturally and spiritually more consciousness than most of us so called Africans, that's why I put up the Grey account in the first place. Many African-Americans are more African than many of us Africans.

See attachment and link on my signature and you'll understand.

This explanation gives more clarity and you have rightly spotted the issue. I wish you goodluck!

You are saying rubbish with confidence, maybe you are conversant with international transactions, cbn policy stopped all international transactions using ATM of all our commercial banks
Oga you rather is ignorant, my bank card never for one day stopped working. I am specific that my providus bank card worked and works till date.
The regular card had limit of $1000(or so), mine a platinum had $3000 monthly limit. Why are you arguing? Those banks that stopped theres was because they horded their fx and could not back their cards with dollars for reasons best known to them. Eg during the period of banks selling PTA gotten from cbn in emefieles period you could get PTA from some banks while some eg ze--th will never sell to you, instead their staff will be the one making purchases.
Look at the dates on the attached, first is an Alixpress payment from last year, the others are mails from the bank.

wow! what a big relief, i didnt know until i invited someone ove and needed to pay for a VISA, i already changed £ to N only to reach WORLDSPLAY site and gbagaun e no gree pay on GTB, mo sano TEE, i moved to ACCESS Bank i no see am ACCESS and i moved to WEMA, i was over WHELMED.. so i woke my sis and every canadian peepz n usa peepz up that morning oo, to help convert to $i went shortage of 40k in the process
Guess you never heared providus bank naira cards were never shut down, you just stressed yourself for nothing. The montly limit was about $800 for ordinary cards while the platinum about 3k. I am surprised so many people were ignorant of this.

The ex-p didn’t command banks to do anything. Banks had to stop due to shortage of dollars at the official window of 450 naira/$. Inflows coming into the official window then were slowing down because everyone wanted to trade at the black market of 750 to get more value for their FX. With lesser inflow to the Banks, they had little dollars to give you. This is why Tinubu floated the naira immediately because it was a crisis already.
Exactly.
I tried explaining this to some fellow on this post but as usual the usual naija confidence while clearly ignorant. He claims there was a cbn instruction to banks to block cards from fx payments.

This is good news. Let me go activate my gtb card . Many of these fintech virtual cards are scam. I still got some $💵 stuck in Payday 🤦‍♂️

Na God go judge chiper cash. Thanks to grey with their competitive rates I will still use Dem for purchases less than $100 but anything higher than that is to use the bank card.

They should remove the useless limits... They shouldn't dictate how I spend my money.

As for Fintech, their greed will kpai them
As in eh, no be small greed. Extremely greedy. They almost made me to lose my website but can you blame them? Blame the then federal government that stopped the use of Naira card to make international payment

You are mistaken. Federal Government did not command anything. It was a decision of the Banks (not all Banks though) due to shortage of dollars in 2022.

Can you show the cbn policy that instructed banks to stop all international transactions using atms? You know what?, you are the usual average Nigerian that will defend your ignorance with confidence. Instead of asking questions and getting informed you arrogantly claim knowledge yet dumb. Don't worry it is not unique to you, months ago on a thread here about haulage I spoke of earning a certain sum, one idiot argued it can never be done, saying it is false info, a stupid person because if I had been in his shoes, I would first have asked how it was done to earn what seemed impossible to him, probably I would have told him then he increases his earnings.
Oga, my bank card never stopped working, I have always had $3000 monthly limit (which could have been increased if needed). Those with regular cards eg my kids had $800-1000 limits (if I remember right). My regular subscriptions, YouTube, Netflix and other online payments, using the card overseas, everything works.
Ignorance is a desease, if you doubt why not walk into the bank or call customer care to confirm?

All these ignorant statements you people keep making.

You think the commercial bank is all about deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and payment for services?
I

Oyah, educate me.

I have bamker friends that have been mandated to go and seek deposits to cushion the impact of low deposits.

My Gtb card didn't work over the weekend. Tried Zenith card, same problem.

Are we supposed to get new bank cards, or the thing has not started operating.
Is it with ATM?

I want to send money to a Kenya bank account is it possible with Nigerian banks using this means, via ATM?

Hello,

It's been very bad news for me with the First Bank Naira MasterCard. I made a purchase for $134 on eBay and had to cancel the order a few moments later. Ebay promptly refunded the amount and stated like normal that the REFUND will be processed in 3-5 working days. Screenshot attached for dates etc.

If you use Grey Virtual cards and have had any reason to get a refunded, it takes just 3 working days. I have waited until the 8th since the first and no money has been returned. I now contact firstcontactcomplaints@firstbanknigeria.com

They sent me a chargeback form which I completed and sent back and up until this day my NGN190,437 has not been returned. They keep telling me am on a que and it would take 45 working days to get a resolution.. Not my money. BEWARE and learn from my mistakes in April 2026.

Attached are screenshots of the responses received. Just for a simple refund

Don't waste your time and lose money! Advice me on ways to resolve the money problem if you know
